NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 24, 2014

Where do you fit into God's Story?
|
Have you ever wondered how your story fits into God's story? Why has God put you on this earth, in North Carolina, Cabarrus County, worshipping at Bethpage Presbyterian Church? Scripture tells us that God knew us before the beginning of time. If that is the case, and we believe it is, then every day has very important implications. Every day is a part of God's eternal plan for His world.
So, let's take that last thought and let's multiply it by 178 members of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Now we start to see the power of God's plan. Add to this all the Christians in America, North America, the Northern and Southern hemispheres and the power of God's purpose for each one of us, separate and together, becomes powerfully clear. Now add to that all the people of all time: past, present and future! Our God is an Awesome God!!
I'll ask you to think about the first question I posed to you, "Have you ever wondered how your story fits into God's Story for the World? For the next nine months BPC is going to have the opportunity to walk through God's story. Each week, children, teens, young and more mature adults are going to be exploring the scriptures in chronological order. What a rich opportunity this will be! How wonderful on June 1st to say, "I have read through the entire story of God's purpose for the world! I know what my part in God's Story is!"
The price of this journey of faith is the cost of the abridged translation of the Bible (it lists at $20.00 a piece - we ask you to pay only what you can) and the honor of spending time each week reading about how God loves his creation and will do anything to redeem us from our brokenness. I urge everyone to take part in this wonderful journey of faith at Bethpage Presbyterian Church.

|
This Sunday, August 24, 2014, we will have our annual Rally Day Celebration in the Pavilion immediately following the 9:55 AM Worship Service. Hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings will be provided. There will be games for young and old. The only thing you need to bring is yourself, your family, and perhaps a lounge chair. Please plan to join us for this afternoon of fun and fellowship! Our Worship Service will include The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper and will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be followed by a GA Update with Rev. Robert Austell. Please come!back to top |
The Christian Education Committee needs volunteers for the 2014-2015 year. We need Youth Sunday School Teachers and Helpers, Children's Worship Leaders and Helpers, and Nursery attendants for the 9:55 AM Worship Service. Our plan is to return to the one month at a time scheduling format to coordinate with all the other volunteer needs during our services and programs. As we embark on a church wide use of "The Story," we have wonderful materials ready to train our children in this weekly program in Sunday School, Children's Worship and Senior Highs. We need your help, so please sign up at Rally Day this Sunday or contact Carrie Paxton or Roger Hamilton.
Thank you, Christian Education Committee
