The highly successful Startup Weekend held in Auckland recently was won by team Trusty Tenants, whose innovative product wowed the judges from the get-go. Team member Richard Dryden, BCC events and marketing coordinator, says winning was just the cherry on top, with the whole experience proving hugely valuable.

Jane Donaldson, a tech transfer advisor at BCC, is a trained accountant who has worked for the big guys in London and SMEs in New Zealand. All that experience gives her a good understanding of how business operates. Jane spends the majority of her time sniffing out research that have business potential. It takes flexibility to keep up with lots of different projects and it takes commitment to cheer researchers along the tech transfer route.
