BioLumic raises GD1 funding
for offshore growth

Plant science company BioLumic has successfully completed a new investment round with backing from the Global from Day One programme (GD1).  The investment will finance customer trials and a foray into international markets.

Diamanage Diary

Since Cameron Kilgour and Deinika Elston won Innovate 2013 for Diamanage, their diabetes management App, the pair hasn't just been sitting around counting their cash. They've been busy building a business.  

 

"We met with an accountant for advice on setting up the business and registering the company," says Kilgour, "and we're in the process of gathering quotes from app developers."

 

Once they pick a developer, it's pretty much game-on for Kilgour and Elston, who are both in their final year of a Bachelors of Applied Visual Imaging at UCOL and starting in the next issue of BCC News, readers will be able to keep up-to-date in the life of a start-up in Diamanage Diary.

Rod Drury, CEO and co-founder of NZX-listed cloud computing company Xero, is coming to Palmerston North.  

 

The event, sponsored by Morrison Creed, will begin at 4 pm on 10 October 2013 at Silks Lounge, Awapuni Racecourse.

 

Drury, the 2012 New Zealand Herald's Business Person of the Year was winner of the New Zealand Hi-Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 and 2007 and is category winner for Technology and Emerging Industries in this year's EY Entrepreneur of the Year. Drury and the other four category winners face a judging panel on October 16 and the winner will be announced at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards gala on October 17. The winner will travel to Monte Carlo to compete in EY's World Entrepreneur of the Year event in June 2014.
