2016-2017 Kindergarten and New First Graders' Central Registration

central-registration Central registration will be held during the weeks of February 22nd and 29th for the 2016-2017 school year for incoming kindergarten students and new first graders.

Please note all registrations will take place at the Wayne Township Learning Center (Preakness), 1006 Hamburg Turnpike, Room 9, Wayne, NJ, not at your child's school. Children who will be five years old on or before October 15, 2016 are eligible to attend kindergarten in the Wayne Township Public Schools in the fall.

Please go to the district website (www.wayneschools.com) after February 15 to first complete the online registration process and to schedule an in-person appointment to register your child(ren). Each school has specific dates/times to register your child. Please click here to view the schedule.

High School Winter Sports Update - Wayne Valley

wayne-valley-logo Boys Basketball: The boys are currently 17-2 and are the J.P. Flynn Memorial Holiday Basketball Tournament Team Champions. They will play in the semi-finals of the Passaic County Tournament on Saturday, February 20 and are the NJSIAA 3rd seed in the State Tournament.

Girls Basketball: The girls are currently 9-9 and qualified for the NJSIAA State Tournament.

Boys Bowling: Rebuilding year for the boys who continue to improve with every game.

Girls Bowling: The girls are currently 14-0 and are Passaic County Champions and Independence Division Champions. They just placed 5th in the NJSIAA Group 3 State Championship.

Girls Fencing: The girls are the Passaic County Champions and are currently 8-4. They also qualified for the NJSIAA State Tournament.

Ice Hockey: The ice hockey team is the Mayor's Cup Champions and finished their regular season at 10-1-3. They also qualified for the NJSIAA Tournament.

Girls Skiing: Their current record is 7-4 and they have the NJSIAA State Tournament on Tuesday, February 23rd.

Boys Swimming: The boys finished their regular season at 6-4-1 and placed 2nd in the Passaic County Tournament and 2nd in the Independence Division.

Girls Swimming: The girls finished at 5-5 and also placed 2nd in the Passaic County Tournament and 2nd in the Independence Division. They made it to the NJSIAA semi-finals.

Winter Track: The team placed 2nd in the Independence Division.

Wrestling: The boys are currently 16-6 and Independence Division Champions. They also placed 2nd in the Passaic County Tournament and made it to the NJSIAA State semi-finals

Competition Cheer: The girls won 6 Championships out of 7 competitions and were the Grand Champions at one of their events.

High School Winter Sports Update - Wayne Hills

wayne-hills-logo Boys Basketball:The team is currently ranked #1 in the county and will compete in the semifinals Saturday against Wayne Valley. The boys are currently 16-3 and have clinched at least a tie for the league title. If they win their last league game, they will solely hold that title. The boys are looking forward to their first home state game in several years.

Girls Basketball: The girls also may clinch their league title dependent on their last game of the regular season vs. Lakeland, who they recently beat to move to the County Semifinals this Saturday vs. Kennedy. The girls are currently 12-6 and will host a state game the first week of March.

Bowling: Both the boys and girls bowling teams continued to improve their skills throughout the season and each of the team members showed growth in their skills and knowledge of the game. Both teams competed well in both the County and State Team tournaments in the last two weeks. Bowlers received 2nd Team All-County and Honorable Mention All-County Passaic County honors.

Competition Cheer: Winter cheerleading is now a Big North Conference competitive program. The athletes on the squad perform routines with many difficult stunts, gymnastic skills, jumps, and dancing ultimately judged for scores. This year the team's record for BNC competitions was 5-1. The BNC Finals are March 4th at Wayne Valley. Later in March, the team will travel to Orlando, Florida where they will compete at the US Spirit Ultimate National Competition.

Boys Fencing: Currently the boys fencing team is 9-0. They are undefeated in league competition and will close out the second season in a row without a league loss. For the second year in a row, boys fencing are the District 4 champions over all! This year they won all three team titles in Saber, Epee and Foil. They are currently competing in the State Tournament and will be in the semifinals on the February 17th. On February 20th, they will fence in the State Squads Championship and qualified this year for all three weapons. Last year, the saber squad finished 2nd. Hopefully, they will do as well, if not better, this season. On February 27th, the boys will fence in the State Individual Championship.

Girls Fencing: The girls' fencing team experienced some success during their building season. Their current record is 5-6, but the team hopes to close out their season 6-6 after their meet against Passaic Valley this Thursday. At the county tournament the team placed 3rdoverall. At the District 4 Tournament, the girls placed 3rd overall and the saber squad won the gold. The saber squad qualified for the State Squad Championships on February 21st for their second year in a row. Two of our girls qualified for the State Individual Championships to be held on February 27th.

Ice Hockey: Ice Hockey recently finished the season with a 7-10-5 record. Unfortunately, they were unable to qualify for states this year, but had mid-season success, making it to the County Finals for the second year in a row. They played many well fought games and look to keep building in the years to come.

Boys and Girls Skiing: The ski team finished up its league races and is preparing for the upcoming Petro Invitational Race followed by the Team State Races and Individual Race of Champions. The team has a chance to qualify for the team state finals with a strong finish at the Petro Invitational. Honors include girls' all-league recognition and qualifying for the individual race of champions.

Boys Swimming: The boys swimming team continues to build a program with a 5-6 overall record. They finished 3rd overall at the county tournament and 4th in the league. This is the most successful boys swim team in the last five years, and they only plan on improving from here.

Girls Swimming: Girls swimming had another great year. They finished with a record of 11-1-1. They finished 1st in the county and league for the 2nd year in a row, and the 6th time in the last 7 years. The team was the #3 seed in the state tournament and fell in the state semifinal 86-84 to Roxbury HS. One swimmer will represent the team at the individual State Meet of Champions on February 27-28.

Wrestling: Wrestling finished the regular season with a 14-4 record. They finished at the # 13 spot in the Record's North Jersey rankings directly behind Wayne Valley and Passaic Valley. Honors include The Most Outstanding Wrestler award, school record for the most wins, and the third Patriot to achieve 100+ wins. The team is looking to have some individuals qualify for the districts, regions, and states as the post season approaches.

Winter Track: Boys and girls winter track is having the best season in the history of the program. The girls won their first Big North Conference Independence Division title. The boys also won the same championship. The teams were able to place second and third respectively at counties. Six individuals have moved on to the NJSIAA Group 3 Championship.
