2016-2017 Kindergarten and New First Graders' Central Registration
Central registration will be held during the weeks of February 22nd and 29th for the 2016-2017 school year for incoming kindergarten students and new first graders. Please note all registrations will take place at the Wayne Township Learning Center (Preakness), 1006 Hamburg Turnpike, Room 9, Wayne, NJ, not at your child's school. Children who will be five years old on or before October 15, 2016 are eligible to attend kindergarten in the Wayne Township Public Schools in the fall. Please go to the district website (www.wayneschools.com) after February 15 to first complete the online registration process and to schedule an in-person appointment to register your child(ren). PARCC Results Show Strong Performance
During the regular Wayne Township Public Schools Board of Education meeting on February 4th (7:30 PM at Council Chambers), the administration will provide the community with an update about how our students performed on the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers).
Overall, the students participating in the testing program showed very strong performance when compared to other school systems. For example, our students in the seventh grade performed eighteen percentage points above the state average in language arts. The elementary school students achieved strong results in mathematics and outperformed the rest of the state by an impressive margin. At the high school level, the district test results were heavily influenced by nearly 500 cases of test refusal or minimal effort.
As a result, our overall high school results hover around the state average. The full presentation will be available for download on the district website starting on Friday, February 5th.
