Spring Lake Day Camp
Patriots Robotics Team Claims Second Spot at Winter Meet III

Robotics On December 6th, the Wayne Hills Patriots Robotics team competed in an NJFTC Meet, known as "Winter Meet III" in Columbus, NJ. Each team competing had to create a robot that completed a number of tasks which included climbing up a "mountain," hanging, placing debris or climbers in buckets, and pushing debris into designated zones.

The Patriots Robotics team accomplished all of these tasks -- an amazing feat for a rookie team. In addition to the twenty-seven qualifying matches, teams also go through inspections and judged interviews.

Robotics Prior to the semi-final and final matches, the Patriots placed 2nd out of twenty teams. During the semi-final matches, the Patriots stood out as a top team, as their robot competed with ease. Although the Patriots were not the victors in the final match, they received the highest score of the day at 207 points.

The Patriots Robotics team received a plaque for being a part of the winning alliance as well as earning the "Rockwell Collins Innovate Award" for having an innovative and attractive robot that accomplished the tasks set out.

The efforts by the whole team did not go unnoticed, and in addition to hosting and competing in a meet at Wayne Hills on January 24th, the Patriots will continue to prepare for their next big challenge: competing at the state championship tournament at NJIT in February.
