Summer Learning

summer learning In between the summer reading and the fun-in-the-sun activities, there are still plenty of ways that you can keep your child academically engaged this summer. Here are a few ideas to consider:

1) Keep reading and writing skills sharp by keeping a daily journal: Follow this link for writing prompt ideas

2) Visit the library regularly: Click here to visit the Wayne Public Library website

3) Learn online via one of the many free resources out there. Consult with your child's teacher or Media Center specialist for ideas and recommendations.

4) Use those long car rides to play fun games to keep the mind active. Memory games like "I'm going on a picnic", spelling challenges, or "20 questions" can be fun for kids and adults of all ages

5) Spend a day exploring nature and record observations about the environment in a field journal: Check out the Sierra Club's website

For additional summer learning ideas and links you can visit: September will be here before we know it. Be sure to keep the mind and body active while creating those summer memories.
