Inclement weather update
-- As of Friday, February 14, we have officially exceeded the bank of emergency days built into the school calendar by one day. Consequently, per our Board Approved 2013-14 school calendar: If one additional day is needed then we return April 11 as an instructional day; if two additional days are needed we will reinstate April 10 and 11; if three additional days are needed school will be in session on April 9, 10,and 11. As of now, if we only return one day during the April break, we will institute a minimum session day for students and provide staff with opportunities for staff development and collaboration.
-- Since the weather event last week, our facilities and transportation departments have been extremely hard at work to clear snow from lots, walkways, and buses. In addition, they have been actively monitoring and addressing issues related to snow on school roofs and our solar panel arrays around the district. As the snow begins to melt, we will continue to keep a close eye on our roofs for any water infiltration that may occur.
-- The greatest challenge that we faced during these recent storms has been with the placement of snow across our 14 schools. Due to the volume of snow, we quickly began to lose parking spaces and space for vehicles to safely maneuver in our lots; therefore, we brought in heavy equipment to remove the snow and cart it away to various locations.
Our entire facilities, maintenance, custodial, and transportation staff have worked tirelessly and seemingly endlessly during this time and their hard work is greatly appreciated.

The students will be starting an exciting time exploring career opportunities and the relationship between schoolwork and future careers.
The Wayne Township Public School District is holding a Food Allergy Forum for parents/guardians of elementary school children who have food allergies. The forum will be held on February 25th* in the Packanack School gymnasium from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The guest speaker will be Jessika Lusk representing Machado Law Group. We invite you to bring your questions and concerns and engage in a discussion regarding protections under the law, student rights, and district procedures.
