One Year Ago
As we reflect on the tragic events that transpired at Sandy Hook Elementary School one year ago, we are reminded of the lives needlessly lost due to a senseless act of violence. While schools and districts throughout the nation, including here in Wayne, continue to seek out ways to improve, refine, and upgrade security systems, it is clear that there is still one key area that we must focus on here and now.
In addition to fortifying our exteriors, we must always concentrate our efforts on what goes on inside our schools. Interactions between students and the adults within our school community must foster feelings of tolerance, respect, and empathy at all times. We must charge everyone within our schools to constantly look out for one another so that our schools are the safe havens for our students that they are meant to be.
In a press conference on Monday, several families impacted by the tragedy announced the creation of a website that honors the lives lost. The following excerpt is taken from http://mysandyhookfamily.org/

The Hour of Code is Coming to Wayne Public Schools!
