Preparing for Inclement Weather
As we look back one year ago we are reminded about the need to do whatever we can to prepare for inclement weather. As the long nights and cold weather approaches we understand that our decision to close schools, have a delayed opening or an early dismissal poses serious challenges for families. As a general principle, we believe that students are better served by remaining in school; however, our need to make these decisions is always driven by safety.
Who makes the decision?
The superintendent is responsible for the final decision based upon the information shown below; however, parents always retain the ultimate decision- making responsibility for their children's safety. As parents/guardians, your judgment should prevail if you feel that weather conditions warrant keeping your child home.
How is the decision made?
Our decision to close schools or alter school schedules due to inclement weather is based on an analysis of current and projected data from the National Weather Service, along with the following:

Current road conditions from local police and our transportation staff.
We must consider our school-bus routes, and the most dangerous roads in our Township.

High Schools and Sodexo Raise $ for Breast Cancer
On October 25th, Wayne high schools, in collaboration with Sodexo foodservice, raised $643.75 to be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The sale of pink bagels (donated by Sam's Bagels on Hamburg Turnpike), cake balls, cookies and cupcakes raised awareness for breast cancer. Foodservice staff wore pink and made announcements school wide about "Pink Out" day. The event was a huge success!
