Student Ministry
The best spiritual formation St Stephen's can provide Middle and High School students at 10 o'clock on Sunday mornings is full engagement in the 10 o'clock Eucharist. Students will fully participate in, and may assist at leading, the most important thing Christians do: worship.
During the reception which follows, students are encouraged to gather in the youth room to discuss the scriptures and the service in which they just participated. Middle and High School students at St Stephen's are encouraged to serve the Lord as acolytes, ushers, and scripture readers at the 10 o'clock Eucharist. To volunteer yourself or your child for duties in any of these roles, please contact the church office at [email protected] or put a note in the hands of
Father Ellsworth.

Artist-in-Residence
Tomas Sennett
September
Tomas Sennett photo
The Kimball Hall Artist-in-Residence for the month of September: A photographer all his life, Tomas Sennett began his photojournalism career while working in the Peace Corps in India. He has been published in National Geographic, Geo, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, Paris Match, Connoisseur, and Time Life Books. He also has produced the photography for many international organizations' annual reports, including IBM, Repsol, Investcorp, Bankers Trust Company, The Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and The Rockefeller Foundation. Having cultivated a passion for wine over many years, he also has photographed vineyards in Europe and California. One might wonder if making pictures is just a lovely excuse, a convenient mechanism for exploring new places and meeting new people. Yet, despite having worked in over 150 countries, Sennett's desire to take pictures is as strong as ever. He is a print maker now. Into the third act, he is very thankful for the joy this new art form of digital photography brings.

Adult Education Gnostic Gospels

Adult Education will feature a discussion of The Gnostic Gospels, by Elaine Pagels.  This brief book explores the competing texts and ideas that were a part of the early church, including those that did not make it into the Bible.  It is a fascinating look at what Christianity might have been, and makes one think more clearly about the Christianity of today.

Junior Warden Bruce Auld has installed an AED unit next to the Kimball Hall main level elevator.  All who would like instruction on how to operate this in case of an emergency are invited to attend a demonstration on Saturday, October 29th at 10am with St. Stephen's parishioner, Dr. Tom Cromwell.

An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator and is a lifesaving device to treat victims of sudden cardiac arrest.  Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the U.S. and without treatment can lead to death within minutes.  These defibrillators are designed to quickly and easily provide an electric shock that restores the victim's normal heart rhythm.  Ushers and staff are in an important position to benefit directly from this instruction.  Please save this date!
