Sally Bingham Preaches
at St. Stephen's
Next Sunday
2 February
8 & 10am
Sally has brought widespread attention to the link between religious faith and the environment through her work on The Regeneration Project and the Interfaith Power & Light campaign. As one of the first faith leaders to fully recognize global warming as a core moral issue, she has mobilized thousands of religious people to put their faith into action through energy stewardship. Sally serves as Canon for the Environment in the Episcopal Diocese of California and is the lead author of Love God Heal Earth, published by St. Lynn's Press in 2009.

Book Discussion
9 February & 2 March
after the 10am service
Karl Belgum will lead a book discussion on Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, by Eric Metaxas. This is a 2010 biography of German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer and a good read.
The book traces his early life, his time spent in America (including time spent at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem), his career as a theologian and pastor, his involvement in the anti-Nazi "confessing church," and his role in a plot to kill Hitler, which eventually cost him his life. Reviewers and church leaders have scoured it for evidence that Bonhoeffer was "liberal", or "conservative", or "evangelical", or fundamentalist." Does he really fit any of those categories?
This book will be the focus of discussion in a two part series during coffee hour on February 9 & March 2. All are invited whether or not you have even begun and/or finished the book.
