Message from
Head of School Lisa A. Lalama

This week is our annual auction, Bidding on the Bayou - the fundraising event that the WMS community looks forward to each year. It is a chance for us to come together, relax, catch up and support WMS. The auction committee has been working for months to make this the best auction yet!

Each year I am surprised by the joy and the excitement of the people who attend the auction. There are families and friends we see in the hallways each day, staff members from today and the past, and alumni families who come back to check in with us and support our mission.

WMS is a strong community of people who have supported and encouraged us and shared our story for the past 51 years. There are many schools, but only one WMS. We were founded by parents who wanted more from a school and worked hard to make it happen. We have continued to thrive with the continued support of those parents and countless others who chose WMS for their children.

Saturday night is the chance for us all to come together and enjoy each other's company while supporting the school that stands for quality in education, respect for each other, responsibility for our world and joy in learning. We hope you will join us.

Help is still needed to prepare for Saturday night's auction. The committee will be hard at work in the gym both on Thursday and Friday. Please come out to support the committee's efforts, make the auction a memorable event, raise funds for the many wonderful programs here at WMS and earn Co-op hours too! Simply stop by the gym to help!

Fifth-grader Leads Girl Scout Project to Support Delaware SPCA

Junior Girl Scout Troop 559 is currently collecting old and new clean blankets, towels and washcloths for the Delaware SPCA. to help provide comfortable bedding for homeless cats and dogs as they await adoption.

This project is being led by WMS fifth-grader Analisa Nichols as she works toward her Bronze Award (the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve). She chose this project because of her love of animals.

Coming Soon... An Alumni Survey

WMS is in the process of developing a survey to learn about many of our constituents and their experiences and opinions about WMS. We would like to include as many alumni as possible. If you are an alumnus and did not receive an email invitation to our Alumni Pizza Party or our holiday e-card earlier this year, please contact us at alumni@wmsde.org

Parents, if you have a child who graduated from WMS, please send us his or her direct email address if he or she has one and would like to participate.  Thanks!

The Wednesday Weekly shares WMS news and events that are relevant to the families in our community.
