Marie's Message Weekly news and notes from Head of School Marie Dugan
Holiday Wishes On behalf of our entire staff, I wish all of you a joyful and relaxing holiday! Thank you for all you have done for the school this year - from classroom support to enhancing our campus and facilities to helping us run so many memorable events. Our co-op/parent partnership program is alive and well, thanks to all of you and to Laurie Orsic, the coordinator of our volunteer program. We look back on 2013 with pride. It has been a time of transition for all of us. Our board members have worked closely to complete the Strategic Plan and Core Values. Special thanks to them and to our entire staff for making 2013 such a successful year! We look forward to the new year when Lisa Lalama becomes our Head of School on February 1. Lisa and I have been working together closely for six months. I am pleased to be here full-time through January 31. Many have asked me whether I will continue to be involved with the school. I assure you that I am not going far. I will stay in close touch with WMS. You will see me on a regular basis. January will be full of planning for our 50th Anniversary Celebration on February 8. Please plan to be with us that evening. Formal invitations will be distributed soon after the holidays. You can chat with some of the many friends who will be joining us on our Facebook event page. We are also looking for historic WMS photos to use in decorations at the celebration. Please send any photos you have, particularly those from prior to 1990, to WMS50@wmsde.org or post them on the Facebook page. Happy holidays and best wishes for 2014! |
Students "Read to Feed" with Heifer International Service Project
| Inspired by what she learned about Heifer International, 5-7 student Sage Miller drew the picture above on Friday. |
There's no better way to celebrate the holiday season than by giving to those who are less fortunate.
With this in mind, students in WMS's 5-7 and 7-9 classes began WMS's latest large-scale community service project last Friday - Heifer International's "Read to Feed" program.
