About the Road Map Region Race to the Top Grant

In 2012, seven King County, Washington, school districts joined forces and won $40 million in federal Race to the Top funds over four years. The participating school districts are Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, Seattle and Tukwila. The districts dubbed themselves The Road Map District Consortium, a reference to their participation in the Road Map Project, a community-wide effort in South Seattle and South King County to drive major educational improvement with a focus on personalized learning.

Dear  ,

We are pleased to share that the Road Map region school districts were recently featured on the EdSurge website; congratulations! Also, the RFP for developing the Project 5 Regional System for Career Exploration has been released. Finally, there is a great leadership opportunity for teachers around Common Core, Next Generation Science Standardst, English Language Proficiency Standards, and the Teacher Principal Evaluation Program.

Road Map Region Featured on EdSurge
Recently the excellent work of Road Map region districts was featured on the EdSurge website. The districts are all increasingly using technology to better meet the needs of families and work toward eliminating the opportunity gap. Some examples noted include:  using social media and a parent portal to better communicate with families in multiple  languages; participating in the BlendED specialized learning initiative; and working to make devices like Chromebooks or laptops available to all students. Congratulations and keep up the great work!
