About the Road Map Region Race to the Top Grant

In 2012, seven King County, Washington, school districts joined forces and won $40 million in federal Race to the Top funds over four years. The participating school districts are Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, Seattle and Tukwila. The districts dubbed themselves The Road Map District Consortium, a reference to their participation in the Road Map Project, a community-wide effort in South Seattle and South King County to drive major educational improvement with a focus on personalized learning.

Dear  ,

As we near the end of the school year, we are very happy to share our new video about the "Let's Read!" summer reading program! We are also pleased to share that the RFP has been released for Round 2 of the Deep Dive 3 Investment Fund for Community-School Partnerships.

Story1Summer Reading Video Released!
We've partnered with our colleagues at Let's Read King County and the Road Map Project to help spread the word about their summer reading program, "Let's Read!"

Research shows that children who don't read over the summer can lose valuable literacy skills and fall behind in the approaching school year. To help fight summer learning loss, the Road Map Project reached out to libraries, communities and local organizations in spring 2012 to roll out a new summer reading campaign called Let's Read!  This effort aims to encourage children to read during the summer by connecting parents and families to helpful resources, such as library summer reading programs and regional summer meals sites.

Efforts are under way to make this year's Let's Read! summer reading campaign bigger and better than ever. Watch the fun, entertaining, and quick video to learn more! For additional information, see the Let's Read! website.

Story2Deep Dive 3 RFP Issued
The Request For Proposals has been issued for the second round of awards for the Deep Dive 3 Investment Fund to Develop Additional Community-School Partnerships.

The Fund is used to allow additional districts to create intensive school and community partnerships to turn around academic performance in high needs schools. The projects are expected to produce examples, lessons learned and models. Results data will be collected and broadly shared.

Letters of intent are due on July 14, and proposals are due on August 22. For more information and to view the timeline, please visit our Deep Dive 3 page.
