The Garden Party Is July 29

The Seattle Japanese Garden's premier event of the season takes place on Friday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Savor premium sake, craft wine, and Japanese summer cuisine, while enjoying traditional music and dance performances in the garden.

An Astounding ArbFest

More than 150 guests attended ArbFest on Thursday night. The food, cocktails, and music were sublime. Guests also enjoyed geocaching, petanque, and more. Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success!
Annual Meeting Report

Members and partners of the Foundation attended our Annual Meeting at the Visitors Center on June 27. We discussed the year's accomplishments and the importance of building community. We also elected new board members and celebrated the contributions of volunteers and staff.

Hebes, Hydrangeas, Sedums, and More

Looking for pretty plants? Right now, our Plant Donations Nursery has a good selection of sedums, hostas, and ornamental grasses. The Pat Calvert Greenhouse has an excellent assortment of hydrangeas, hebes, and more. All sales benefit the Arboretum.

Nurseries to Visit on the Olympic Peninsula

In the latest issue of the Arboretum Bulletin, garden writer Janine Anderson profiles three of the Olympic Peninsula's outstanding nurseries, some of the amazing plants they offer, and the creative people who nurture them.

New Stewards Assistant Hired

Last month, we welcomed Jillian Weed (pictured on the left) to our staff to train, schedule, and manage the volunteers in the Arboretum Garden Stewards program. With a background in botany, Jillian has previously worked as a gardener and plant ecologist for Seattle Parks and Recreation.
