Annual Meeting Next Wednesday

The Arboretum Foundation's Annual Meeting will be held Wednesday, June 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Graham Visitors Center. All Foundation members are welcome! Learn about our accomplishments over the past year, vote in our Board of Directors election, and enjoy a light reception on the terrace. RSVP by Tuesday, June 14.

Tickets for ArbFest Now on Sale

Experience the Arboretum in a unique and immersive way at our new outdoor summer party on Thursday, July 14. Enjoy delicious food and drinks on Azalea Way, hunt for geocached treasure, play a game of petanque, and dance under the stars to gypsy jazz music.

Woodland Garden Beauty

Oakleaf hydrangea, a southeastern US native, is putting on a show in the Woodland Garden at the Arboretum. Randall Hitchin has written a short profile of this beautiful plant for our news blog.

Blooming Daylilies at the Nursery

The Plant Donations Nursery at the Arboretum has a nice selection of daylilies, in a variety of flower colors (peach, bright yellow, and purple-centered cream). You'll also find a good selection of sedums, geraniums, and lady's mantle.

Pronouncing Botanical Latin

How does one say Fuchsia? Is it "FYU-sha," "FUKS-ee-aa," or something a whole lot worse? In the latest issue of the Bulletin, Miller Library Plant Answer Line librarian Rebecca Alexander humorously explains how there are no hard and fast rules for pronouncing botanical Latin.

Save the Date: Japanese Garden Party, July 29

The Seattle Japanese Garden's premier event of the season takes place on Friday, July 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Savor premium sake, craft wine, and Japanese summer cuisine, while enjoying traditional music and dance performances in the garden.
