Arboretum Holiday Sale Less Than a Month Away!
Mark your calendars for Gifts & Greens Galore on Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our popular holiday sale and Arboretum fundraiser features a great selection of nature-inspired gifts, handmade wreaths and centerpieces, and unique, pre-bundled fresh-cut greens. Opening Night Party tickets will also go on sale at the event.

A New Totem Pole
Installed in the Arboretum's Native Knoll
The Arboretum has a beautiful new totem pole, a generous gift from the family of Jim and Gretchen Faulstich. The carvings on the pole are inspired by the traditional Northwest coastal native folk tale, "The Origin of the Eagle Clan." The pole's new home is in the Native Knoll section of the Arboretum, just a short walk along Arboretum Drive from the Graham Visitors Center. >>Read more

Staff Update
Foundation Hires New Development Director
We are delighted to welcome Chris Stollery onboard as our new Development Director. An avid gardener, Chris managed the Seattle Chinese Garden's first major campaign back in 2000. Since that time, she has held several senior development positions at the Cornish College of the Arts. Says Chris, "I'm delighted to join this terrific community of volunteers and staff who work to sustain our treasured Arboretum."

Completing a Historic Olmsted Vision
Close by the Arboretum, a new landscape design project brilliantly celebrates and expands the University of Washington's historic Rainier Vista. Loop Trail Update
Re-Scoped Project to Go Out for Bid This Month
As we reported in September, initial construction bids for the new Arboretum Loop Trail came in $1 million over budget. Over the last two months, the Foundation worked with its City and UW partners to value engineer the project in order to reduce costs. Major savings will be made by replacing concrete retaining walls with dry stack stone walls. >>Read more

A Stunning Selection of the Japanese Autumn Camellia
Though peak season in the Witt Winter Garden at the Arboretum is from January to March, there are sights to savor in this iconic display throughout the year. Starting in November, three specimens of Camellia sasanqua 'Mine no yuki' burst into bloom on the northeast corner of the garden and put on a stunning flower show that can last well into early winter. >>Read more

Free Sunday Tours to Explore Forest Ecology
UWBG-trained garden guides lead
free tours of the Arboretum from 1 to 2:30 p.m. every Sunday. This month's theme will be forest ecology. Learn how forest ecosystems work, from the ground up to the Arboretum's beautiful trees. Meet at the Graham Visitors Center.
Stewards Final 2015 Session Is This Thursday!
Drop by the New Zealand Forest this Thursday, November 12, between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and help the Garden Stewards in their final scheduled work session of the year. No experience needed! Just a passion for weeding and a love of the Arboretum!
