Greetings!

Thank you for your continued interest in our monthly eNews.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our eNews subscribers.

Since many have signed up for a plan through the Affordable Health Care Act, we have seen an increase in requests for us to check insurance. Many are pleased to learn they now have coverage for compression garments when they did not before. We encourage any of our readers (or anyone beyond) to utilize our insurance verification services to check your coverage. As always, this is a courtesy service with no obligation, no sales pressure, and only your benefits will be described to you.

Call us toll free to take advantage of this free service @ 1-800-293-3362 or if you prefer to not speak with anyone, you can do this through our on-line form submission by following this link -- http://lymphedema.com/billing.htm

The Noble Heart Fund is designed to help those in need with their night-time compression. When we find a patient who fits the criteria for the Noble Heart Fund, they are provided a night-time compression sleeve either free of cost or at a highly discounted price.

 Ask Kelly

Dear Kelly,

I have lymphedema in my left arm and I was advised not to have any blood pressure, blood tests, or IV injections in that arm. My question is, would this include a bone density
test in that arm as well?

Joannice

Dear Joannice,

A bone density test uses x-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. Being there is no tissue compromised (punctured or constricted as would be with a needle stick or blood pressure cuff) the test should not put you at any additional risk in regards to your lymphedema. However, as always we recommend you discuss any concerns with your physician about any test that has been ordered.

Sincerely,
Kelly
