Rebuilding on Ruins

All around us stuff is ruined.
   Marriages.  Relationships.  Careers. Finances.
"It's ruined."  We hear the words spoken all too often.

Right now you may be standing in your own ruins.

It is painful, depressing.  It is devastating.  It is all of that and more.
But it is not the end.
God can and God will rebuild your life, even on top of the ruins.
Around 587BC, God's special city, Jerusalem, was devastated by war.  The Babylon army rendered the land of milk and honey a "desolate wasteland".  And the people of Jerusalem knew their unfaithfulness to God was ultimately to blame.
Nonetheless in the midst of the desolate wasteland, in the self-inflicted disaster, God spoke to his people words of hope.
"The city will be rebuilt on her ruins, and the palace will stand in its proper place" (Jeremiah 30:18).
Your situation is different.  Your "city', your "ruins" may be your career, your marriage, your body.  It may be anything.
But God's promise is the same:
"The city will be rebuilt on her ruins."
  Your life will be rebuilt.
Recently my son came to me with tears in his eyes, gasping for breath.  "It's ruined, dad."  In his hands, he held many pieces of a favorite toy, which had  somehow fallen apart.
Of course, my heart broke for him.  He was pitiful.  I took the pieces and went with him to his room.  A short while later, we had rebuilt his toy. We had even made a few improvements.  He thanked me, and gave me a big bear hug.
God, our Heavenly Father's, desire and ability to rebuild and restore our ruins is infinitely greater than mine will ever be.  He loves to love us, loves to help.  God can fix, heal, forgive, and renew anything.
If we will just bring our ruins to him, surrender our devastation, he will take our broken pieces into his hands and make us whole again.  He will make us better.  He will build a palace on top of the ruins.
With God, all things are possible.  So don't give up!

  See  you Sunday.

A New Series for a New Year
Each year, we make the same old resolutions and without fail... we fail.   God desires for us to make higher resolutions, ones that will lead to greater success and positive change.

This week's resolution:

An encouraging word.

This is what the Lord says: " 'I will restore the fortunes of Jacob's
tents and have compassion on his dwellings; the city will be rebuilt
on her ruins, and the palace will stand in its proper place.'"
