Families sit together and women fully participate in leading the services. Pre-bat/bar-mitzvah youth read the maftir and chant. Post-bat/bar-mitzvah youth are especially invited to take active roles. If you'd like to lead or have an honor or have any questions regarding this service including upcoming dates, please contact Malachai Hacohen. The Chavurah welcomes all. Jewish Federation Annual Mitzvah Day
Friday, 12/25
Beth El Synagogue is excited to join the Jewish Federation's Annual Mitzvah Day program "Away for the Holidays." This year, we will be collecting for Meals on Wheels. Click here to view their wish list. Please remember cans should be individual serving sizes and have pop top lids. There is a decorated box in the lobby for you to drop off your donations until December 23. Thank you for helping fight hunger in our community!
If you would like to register for Mitzvah Day, visit Jewish Federation's Annual Mitzvah Day.
Community Cafe
Sunday, 12/27 @ 5:30 pm
Community Cafe is December 27th. This will be a difficult month because of all the requests you are already receiving to donate to efforts at Judea and in our community. The kitchen (freezer, refrigerator and pantry) will be very crowded with donations for the Meals on Wheels delivery on December 25. Our casseroles will be stored in the freezer at the JCC until December 25. When you bring a casserole to Judea, please put it in the freezer and make sure it is labeled TUNA CASSEROLE FOR URBAN MINISTRIES. Judea staff will transport casseroles to the JCC.
The following items are still needed for a successful Cafe:
13 large tuna casseroles 14 large cans of green beans and mixed veggies 4 large bottles of salad dressing, Ranch and/or Italian 2 large bags of shredded cheese
Cookies (total of about 400)
Ice tea mix with sugar and lemon
Jars of peanut butter and jam Please contact Erica Rapport Gringle if you are able to donate these items or would like to volunteer for upcoming Community Cafe opportunities.

Eric Pas Jewish Camp Scholarship Applications are now available for partial scholarship funding for a Beth El family who needs financial assistance in sending a child to a Jewish camp. Funding will be made available on a need basis and information will be kept confidential. In the past 16 years, the scholarship fund has distributed over $40,000 and has been able to sponsor 60 Beth El children. Our children have participated in our local Federation camp as well as Ramah Darom in Georgia, Young Judea, and two overseas programs. If you would like further information or an application please call Michele Pas at 493-3175, or email to mjbpas@aol.com. Please consider making a contribution. Beth El members' continued financial support of this fund will allow more of our Beth El children to have a Jewish camp experience. |
