Detroit URC Launches National Program
The Detroit Urban Research Center's community-academic partnerships have been so successful in their Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) for 20 years that they're serving as model for a new national initiative. Titled the CBPR Partnership Academy, the program includes three core components: 1) one-week intensive course, 2) a full year of structured mentoring and learning opportunities, and 3) access to ongoing networking and support. 
Attention Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Detroit! The Detroit URC is offering a half-day training session in Community-Based Participatory Research on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the U-M Detroit Center (3663 Woodward Ave). Are you a Detroit-based community organization or health and human services agency interested in building collaborative-research capacity related to health equity in Detroit? If so, then the Detroit URC is happy to announce that we'll be offering scholarships to up to five scholarships to attend the week-long summer short course, Methods in Community-Based Participatory Research for Health, from July 13-17, 2015

The course, which is based out of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, will be taught over the course of five half-days by a team of ten trainers (five university researchers and five Detroit-based partners). Apply by May 15, 2015!  Learn more
 
Congratulations to winners of the Detroit URC's Small Planning Grant Program, which supports the establishment of new community-academic partnerships and new collaborative health research efforts in Detroit. One of the projects focuses on improving chronic health prevention and management services for the elderly and the other on helping those in recovery to re-enter the workforce.  Learn more.

 

Are you a community-university partnership that's planning a health research study? Are you interested in up to $50K in funding support for the project? If you answered yes, then the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) invites you to apply for the Community University Research (CURES) Partnership Award.

This unique, pilot funding mechanism supports collaborative research projects between community organizations and U-M researchers that seek to address community-identified health priorities. Apply by March 13, 2015Learn More.
