Congratulations to

Jaye Clement, Maria Salinas and Quincy Jones!

Long-time colleagues of the Detroit Urban Research Center have been selected as part of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Community Leadership Network Fellows Program. Over the course of 3 years these fellows will address issues of poverty and racial inequity through community-based work.

The Detroit URC Networking Social Brings Community and Academic Network Members Together to Discuss Health 

 

On Monday, May 19th, the Detroit URC hosted the 2nd Annual Detroit Networking Social: A Community Academic Research Gathering at Bert's Barbeque in Detroit's Eastern Market. Similar to last year, this lively event brought together representatives from community-based organizations, health services agencies and multiple academic institutions as an opportunity to create new linkages among those interested in engaging in collaborative research in Detroit. 


Detroit URC Center Manager Transition

Please join us in congratulating Ashley Weigl, former Detroit URC Center Manager on her new position within the University of Michigan as the Associate Director of Health Risk Reduction Services.  We want to thank Ashley for her incredible contributions to the Detroit URC over the past two years have greatly enhanced our efforts.    
 
Julia Weinert, Detroit URC Communications Specialist, has
graciously agreed to step in as Interim Center Manager. We are excited to have her in this role and look forward to developing a long term plan for the Center.

Graduate Summer Session in Epidemiology: CBPR Short Course 

July 14-18, 2014 at 1:30- 5:00pm

As part of the session the Detroit URC teaches a course on community-based participatory research, examining the rationale for, benefits of and challenges associated with using a community-academic partnership approach to research and  
interventions.

The Wellness Mapping Toolkit
This toolkit is designed for collecting data in a way that engages the participant to describe their environment and how it contributes to their achievement of wellness. It is especially designed for use by groups conducting community-engaged projects.
