The local Knights of Columbus started this walk in 2013 with 150 participants. Last year the Knights successfully partnered with St. Joseph PRC to build the walk, in an effort to unite the pro-life supporters in our community across all denominations. Over 250 people walked the streets with us!  The route will again include 3 different variations of distances to encourage people of all athletic abilities to join in on celebrating LIFE!  The walk is FREE to participants due to our corporate sponsors.  This is a family friendly event, and we want to encourage people of all ages to join us in showcasing to the community just how precious life is to all of us! This year's speakers will be sharing about adoption.

Our Story
Our Story
Greetings!

What a month! Sorry to be cutting it so close to the end of the month with this newsletter. We have just been so busy with events and babies!

The banquet was an enormous success with almost 500 people in attendance and over $84,000 raised during the event! In combination with continued monthly gifts from last year's banquet and new monthly gifts, we now have $137,000 committed through monthly giving each year. That will help us save about 114 babies in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, which is amazing!

However, we still have work to do! As shared at the banquet we're on track again this year to save almost 200 babies, but last year more than 250 babies lost their lives in the 13 counties that we serve.

Over the course of the next year, we will be working diligently to increase our marketing presence in area high schools and on college campuses. We will work tirelessly to ensure that every baby has the opportunity to live.

So what's next? Well, we can't afford to stay complacent until next year's banquet. We need to continue on this course of supporting LIFE! There are so many opportunities to engage with us in this important cause. Join us at a Behind the Scenes Lunch Tour, attend one of our monthly community events and organize an opportunity for us to speak at your church. We're here to partner with you!

Thanks for taking a stand for life,

Galatians 6:9

Paul wrote in Galatians 6:9:  "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." This our theme for the baby footprint necklaces we had made for our donors, staff and volunteers. These footprints are from an actual saved baby from our center, just like the baby saved in the story below.

We all grow weary; sometimes it is tempting to give up. When the proper time comes (in this case, a baby is born) we get to experience the reward.

Recently, it was a privilege and an honor to meet a beautiful baby girl who was born this past summer. Less than a year ago, her mother came to our Center stating if she was pregnant, her plan was to abort. Period. No question.

Wendy, married and in pursuit of a master's degree, did not want to be pregnant.  Feeling that she had no real emotional support system, Wendy was firm on her decision to abort the pregnancy. After all, her husband had told her, "Do what you want!" But something took place in the short hour at the clinic. Maybe it was the ultrasound; maybe it was the kindness she felt during the appointment; maybe it was God at work (in fact, it was all three).  Her time with us started Wendy thinking. She left with ultrasound pictures of her seven-week-old baby and moved her decision from abortion to undecided.

Upon arrival the following week, Wendy told the advocate she had talked with her mother and she had decided to parent instead of abort.  Her husband had also changed his mind and was actually stating his excitement to be a parent. A friend accompanied Wendy to her second appointment at the Center, and during the ultrasound, both women had the opportunity to hear the heartbeat and view pictures of Wendy's eight-week-old baby. At Wendy's third and final appointment, she shared with her advocate how her husband had actually begun to encourage her to keep her appointments at the Center. She left that day saying, "Thank you very much! You made me feel better about this baby. I am so thankful for the information!"

Wendy's name was placed in the follow-up system in order to stay connected with her for the next several months. We were able to visit with her several times over the course of her pregnancy. Unfortunately, as her due date came and went, we were unable to get in touch with Wendy, and her filed was closed out.

Several weeks passed, and out of the blue, Wendy walked into the Center wondering if we could help a friend of hers. Wendy identified herself, and a staff person remembered we were trying to schedule her for a baby visit. After a brief conversation, Wendy agreed to let us photograph her baby girl. She also received diapers and an outfit from our Baby Boutique. Nearly a month later, Wendy and her husband arrived unannounced at the Center. They had a back seat loaded with many new, and a few gently used, baby items. As we expressed thanks to her for her thoughtfulness, Wendy replied, "No. I need to be thanking all of you. You (the Center) saved MY life and the life of my baby."

Each person whether prayer warrior, donor, or staff person has a role to play. If all of us work together, do the job God has called us to do and we don't give up, we will see babies born and fulfill the purpose for which God has brought them into this world; "for such a time as this."

We are currently operating at an 84% success rate with the girls we see turning from abortion and choosing LIFE!!!

This year, the PRC is on track to successfully reach and turn the hearts of over 200 women like Wendy, which translates to over 200 babies saved! These numbers include women who come into our center wanting an abortion and those who are vulnerable to abortion due to risk factors. Thank you for supporting our efforts to reach these women.

Volunteer Spotlight!
Meet Carla Keith

Carla is one of our newest volunteers who is leading the way for women in our community. She's been connected to many of our staff members for years, and now she believes it's time to bring fullness into the lives of many women who have been robbed of peace since having an abortion. On October 12th, she will be leading a new session of our post-abortion healing classes. Her ability to be humble, transparent and vulnerable with people she is ministering to, make for great qualities to lead these classes.

Carla is married to Gary, and they have 4 adult children together. She attends Grace Evangelical Church and has been active in the community for years with various organizations, including FCA,               St. Joseph Christian School and the St. Joseph School District. When she's not helping run an area business that she and Gary own, visiting with her kids or volunteering, she loves crafting, scrapbooking and reading.

When asked how she feels about volunteering at the PRC she says, "I'm truly excited about the direction the PRC is going and being a part of a group that is determined to serve others in excellence and with the heart and guidance of the Lord Jesus Christ!"

Carla is clinging to Genesis 50:20, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." She says, "It just encourages me that God can use anything if we give it to Him and that Satan never wins!

To say that we're genuinely blessed and excited to have Carla as a part of our ministry is an understatement. We cannot wait to see how God is going to use Carla to make a lasting impact on the women we serve.

If you're thinking about how you might be able to get involved with our organization, she encourages you by these words, "We all have something unique that we can add to the efforts at the PRC. Our gifts may be just the missing link to complete what God wants to accomplish with the PRC."

Call and ask to speak with Libby if God is revealing something to you about gifts you have to offer, however big or small!
