Greetings!

We are encouraged that you are partnering with us to provide hope to nearly 300 women this year through all of the services we offer!

When we can count on your gifts, we can spend more time saving babies. We are so close to celebrating 100 babies saved in our center so far this year! If you hear fireworks before Saturday, it might just be us!

As always, be sure to glance over the 5 Fast Ways section to see an updated list of ways you can be a part of the exciting things going on here this month. The Heart of the Matter is about a recent client and her husband who came in determined to get an abortion. Then the Pizza for Life Event is highlighted. We're switching up things a little this month and doing a Staff Spotlight instead of the usual Volunteer Spotlight.
The left column has a fun video we made this week about our golf tournament. Be sure to check it out!

Thanks for all you do to help this ministry! We're growing stronger every day because of God's provision and your faithful support!

Sincerely,

Brandy Meeks

The Heart Starter

Beth's story is, unfortunately, not an uncommon one for the PRC. Married, with multiple children, Beth came to us seeking an abortion.   This pregnancy was putting a kink in plans Beth had made to pursue some career options, and frankly, not only was the timing terrible, this pregnancy would create financial strain-and even these obstacles were not the most difficult to overcome. Beth's husband was pushing very hard for an abortion, leaving Beth with little or no emotional support system.

During the first appointment, Beth was given information on all her options, listened to the Gospel presentation, agreed to STD testing, and accepted an ultrasound to check for viability (a heartbeat)-a very routine appointment.  It was in the ultrasound room where things got interesting.  As expected, the pregnancy was very early-just shy of six weeks by measurements. The sonographer carefully looked all around for a heartbeat: NOTHING. "Okay, I'm going to look again," thought the sonographer.  She began moving the probe slowly at many different angles, but still no heartbeat.  Accepting that it must be too early to detect a heartbeat, the sonographer asked Beth if she would like her husband to come view the ultrasound since he had accompanied her to this appointment. Beth agreed. As the sonographer began to identify the different images on the screen, SUDDENLY-the baby's heart began beating, or as we like to think, God "started" the heart! Coincidence? We think not. God's always in control.

Despite this "heart miracle," Beth left us stating she was still planning to abort but would come back the following week for her STD results and to check once more for viability. Beth returned the following week, once again stating her intent to abort. At the end of the second ultrasound, the nurse explained that Beth could come back the following week to make sure she still had a viable pregnancy since Beth was still in the early stages and one in three women will miscarry. Once again, Beth returned for a third look, but this time she left us stating she was unsure what she would do. Realizing she was gradually moving towards having the baby, the nurse said she could come back one more time for a fourth ultrasound. Beth did come back for the fourth ultrasound, but left again undecided about the outcome.  At this point, Beth was entered in our follow-up system. We had used the process to its fullest and had done the job God asked us to do, so we stepped back and let Him work on starting Beth's heart and her husband's heart in favor of their baby (which He was already at work doing).

At our most recent contact with Beth, she stated she had decided to pursue prenatal care and have the baby. Not only had God done a work on Beth's heart, but even more impressive is the work God did on a hard-hearted husband.  Beth's husband had been present at each appointment, but he did not always participate in the ultrasound. In God's own mysterious way, He started the heart of not only the baby, but of Beth and her husband in favor of life for their child.

It has been our prayer that God would "start the hearts" of His people for this cause. If you're feeling a tug to get more involved through volunteering or with financial support, know that we've been praying for you!

We are currently operating at an 87% success rate with the girls we see turning from abortion and choosing LIFE!!!

This year, the PRC is on track to successfully reach and turn the hearts of over 200 women like Beth, which translates to over 200 babies saved! These numbers include women who come into our center wanting an abortion and those who are vulnerable to abortion due to risk factors. Thank you for supporting our efforts to reach these women.
Join us at our Pizza for Life Event!
On July 20th from 5-8 pm, place an order from North Belt Pizza Hut and bring in the Pizza Hut flier that you can find here!

10% of the proceeds will help women and their babies in unplanned pregnancies at our center.

So go ahead and print off the flier, stick it on your fridge and put a reminder on your phone!                 We need you there!
Staff Spotlight!
Meet
Erika Albin

Erika is our office manager and has been with our organization for four months. While she's still a newby, she has managed to get the office in tip-top shape with her amazing administrative and organization skills. She attends Wellspring Community Church with her husband, Josh and four children: Seth (age 8), Eli (age 5) and twins, Zeke and Sylvanie (almost age 2). She says that family is the most important thing to her after her relationship with Christ.

Her favorite passage of scripture is Lamentations 3:19-23.  She says, "This passage talks about remembering times of great struggle in life, but then being able to have hope because of the Lord's great love. It ends with 'Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.'  I love this because I have certainly had times when I felt like on my own, I would have no hope. But time and again, God has shown that He gives new mercies every morning and He is faithful, even if everything else in life is not secure. And that is what I want all women who walk through our doors to know: they are not alone and they can have hope."

She first found out about St. Joseph PRC through a baby bottle campaign at her church several years ago. Since then, her friend Jessica became a nurse in the clinic, and she told her all about the mission and she says, "I loved everything she shared."

Erika had been praying about what it might look like for her to return to work after giving birth to twins.

She says, "God put it on my heart that I should work part-time at a place where I could use my administrative gifts for something 'bigger than myself'.

So when the opportunity arose, just one day after sharing this desire with a good friend, she knew it was from Him.

When Erika isn't snuggling with her kids or working, she loves to play piano, sing in the worship band at church, and has recently gotten involved with Robidoux Resident Theater. In fact, she will be appearing in Hello, Dolly! in July at the

Missouri Theater!

She encourages others to get involved with our organization, because she says, "The PRC is able to touch women who are in a crisis moment in their life, offering Christ-like support and love. I hear stories everyday about women who felt alone in their life when faced with an unplanned pregnancy, but who found support and help here.  I have seen God move in amazing ways and it's encouraging to me. Getting involved here will bless you and encourage you, too. I promise!"

Erika, we are blessed to have you as a part of our team!
