The Way!
I invite you to put your mind in another world. There is nothing like a pilgrimage. I have been on a pilgrimage with the cross around the world since the 60's. However, there are special pilgrimage routes in the world and those making these walks are almost without exception seeking a spiritual experience. The Christian pilgrim routes are filled with tens of thousands coming from all parts of the earth to sacrifice, suffer and find God in some special way. They endure heat, cold, discomfort and often hunger and thirst. Some go alone but most come in groups of from ten to hundreds. They are very different from those going through Israel in air-conditioned tour buses. These people walk for days, weeks or even months mostly sleeping outdoors or in dorm-like hostels. As the days go on they are weary and often in need of clean clothes and refreshment but their search for Jesus drives them on. We have carried the cross on several of these in Europe. Most of the people are Catholic and they simply mob the cross. They come weeping and even kissing the cross and me. They are hungry to hear of our pilgrimage and the message of Jesus. Many times the priest with their group will have me share and lead them all in the Jesus Prayer. These pilgrimages are the one place for sure that the cross is welcome. Even those living along the route will welcome the cross with great emotion.
This summer, God willing, we feel led to carry the cross along 'The Way of St. James' an ancient pilgrimage route on the way to Santiago, Spain. It is also known as 'The Camino de Santiago' and is one of the World Heritage Sites. Hundreds of thousands of people a year make this walk. A million or more come to Santiago. Most of these people are seeking or worshiping Jesus. This should be a mighty witness with thousands coming to know Jesus.
We will rent a car and Denise will be driving up a few miles as I carry the cross along the roads and trails. She will have water, food and gospel material so I can stop for rest and refreshment. Denise and Sophia will join me in carrying the cross through the towns and villages, then they'll get a bus back to our car as I continue walking. This is going to be a glorious time of leading people to know Jesus as their Savior. I can hardly wait to get the cross on the road with the people. It will be very exhausting but it's what I was born to do; to bring the cross and Jesus to the people of this world. I love the personal witness. I can lead people to Jesus in Spanish and lead them in the prayer of salvation. While in the area we also plan a cross walk in Portugal.
"Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6. We will be leading people on the way to know The Way of Jesus. Glory!
Our plan is to stop in England to preach, carry the cross and visit Denise's family and Sophia's grandparents. After the pilgrimage we'll head on to Trondheim, Norway where my son Joshua and Nina and their three children live. We'll preach there and carry the cross with my son and grandchildren. We have not seen any of our European family in two years, this will be an added blessing for us.
Through my hosting of 'Praise the Lord' on TBN TV we have been sharing Jesus with tens of millions of people this year. I've been hosting from twice to three times a month. In each program besides interviewing powerful men and women of God I also bring a message of salvation. This next week May 28th is the 40th year anniversary celebration of TBN TV. We will be there as part of that celebration and bring a message.
I praise God for TBN. Thank you Paul and Jan Crouch for hearing the call of Jesus and staying focused on Jesus and souls and building the world's largest Christian network with the support of the TBN partners. TBN is now a family of 22 networks broadcasting to the entire world with over 82 different satellites. I was first on TBN in the early years in 1976. Paul and Jan became friends and fellow ministers with me in a common mission and vision. As I was carrying the cross to every nation and major inhabited island group they were moving step by step building TV stations and getting on satellites and reaching out to all the world. They from the start gave me the privilege of preaching and giving reports of the crosswalks on their programs. Paul and Jan have welcomed the cross and me. They have given me the glorious privilege of preaching hundreds of times to millions and millions of people in the world. Thank you TBN partners and Paul and Jan. I love you all. Look forward to the great celebration.
You, our dear friends and supporters, thank you for standing with us through the years of carrying the cross and the message of Jesus to the world. Jesus has chosen you to join with us in this mission. You are the greatest team. Denise and I love you more than words can express. We are a worldwide family brought together to jointly carry Jesus to millions.
When we get back God willing from the overseas crosswalk we will step into a great and staggering time of witness starting in early August through TV, meetings and crosswalks. As I grow older Jesus is not slowing us down. Ha. Pray for one special event that can be a witness that will stretch your mind to believe. It's in Jesus Hands. I'll let you know when we know for sure. But it's huge!
We need your prayers. We welcome your love and support. We love you! Please pray for every step of our journey. Things like our flights, our baggage and cross check in, where we sleep, our rental cars and travel, our health, my feet, heart, head and all our bodies. Pray for favor, support, and the binding of Satan in all things. Pray for the full Power of the Holy Spirit to be loosed in our lives, the glorious Presence of Jesus and that we do nothing but the will of the Father.
Just know that it is a joy to follow Jesus. May the Lord bless you in every way. You are in our prayers every day. I'm so pleased that Sophia will get to experience a pilgrimage for Jesus. She has excellent grades and is a great witness. Denise is glorious and such a witness. She cares for me beyond one's wildest dreams. I love her. In early June we will be having, God willing, our 23rd wedding anniversary! We will be heading out on the road again...
