"The Wind in my Face"
"Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting." Acts 2:2
"The Wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." John 3:8
"As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things."
Ecclesiastes 1:6
I remember lying in the hospital bed in Tulsa, Oklahoma at ORU medical center back in the mid 80's. My great buddy, Pete Cantrell, visited me. The doctors wanted to do brain surgery similar to what the doctors wanted to do in 1969 just before I started the cross walk across America on Christmas Day 1969.
It was a critical moment and the doctors reports showed two aneurysms in my brain. Pete came to get me out of the hospital (a true friend). After our talk and brief prayer I remember telling the doctors and nurses 'I'm leaving without surgery, I want to die with the 'wind in my face'!
I left the hospital and was flying back to LA with Oral and Evelyn Roberts in their private plane. As we talked I felt Jesus speak to me. "I'm extending your life for the nations." My pleasure is to go as the Wind of the Holy Spirit leads.
Great peace flooded my soul and I headed off to India with the cross to live or die. I have lived with that proclamation ever since. Jesus has kept me alive for the nations. I know my mission and calling.
I was out carrying the cross today and the thought flooded my mind. My next birthday in October should God will, I will be 73! Stunning. Humbling. Almost unbelievable!
Most of my dear friends have already departed for heaven. A few of us remain and thank God the Lord has brought new friends and brothers into my life. This is a beautiful gift.
My wife Denise is an indescribable strength and comfort to me. We have lived together clinging to one another in 294 nations and island groups and in the face of dangers, struggles and death. All my children and grandchildren are a blessing and treasure to me.
My passion is to be out on the roads, streets and trails with the people of this world. I love America but the world I know has no borders, no walls, no colors, no language barriers and no classes. To me this earth is my temporary home and I have family everywhere. I love all people.
I have learned in my years of following Jesus to take what Jesus sends my way and keep following Him and living in my call and anointing. I have lived through at least half a dozen times of popularly followed by a time of people leaving faster than they came. For me my walk with Jesus has been constant not up and down. I have learned to stay focused on Jesus and ministering Jesus with people. I have no goals of success and do not compare myself with others. Jesus is the judge and rewarder in all things.
Therefore I am free in Jesus my Lord. I love to follow Him.
The road with the 'wind in my face' is my path. I walk it with Denise and Sophia now. After having completed the world in June 2008 some things have changed. New nations come into being and we go there to carry the cross. Jesus calls us every year to go to several nations to carry the cross and minister Jesus in these special places. The miles walked keep on growing. I must confess that as I'm now in my 70's I face new physical challenges. My body feels the years of walking and my steps are a bit slower. Yet I press on with the joy of the fresh challenges. Denise and Sophia help pace me.
We must take off each summer to go overseas and carry the cross. We go to the places Jesus leads us and to be with the local people without any promotion or advance notice. We love the feeling of trusting Jesus for everything. I need the wind in my face along with the dust and dirt. I desire a tired body in the service of Jesus. I love to see Denise waiting for me up the road. I have plenty of high profile TV and meetings when we return back to the U.S. I need to get away with the cross and Jesus. That is the way I've lived for 44 years now.
I love to talk with and pray with people and touch their hands and be with them in their needs, pains, hurts and broken dreams. I just love and enjoy being with them. My passion has been since I was a young teenage preacher is to be more like Jesus and to lead the lost to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. I want of be out with people and feel the wind in my face as I serve Jesus and others.
I am very satisfied and at peace to minister here in the U.S. Sophia is in school and she travels with Denise and I as much as her school will allow. The Lord has opened the way before us with glorious ministry with TBN TV. I was first on TBN in 1976 and have been friends with Paul and Jan Crouch ever since. I love and honor them in their faithful focus and ministry to the world of Jesus. In this month of May they will celebrate 40 years on the air. I am booked to celebrate that glorious day with them on the air May 28th in So. California on the Praise the Lord broadcast. I have done hundreds of programs on TBN and also I have done a fifteen minute closing for each of the many broadcast of the Passion of the Christ for the past three years. These have been heard and viewed by over 150 million people with thousands coming to Jesus. This is an evangelist's dream to call people to Jesus after 'The Passion'. Already this year I have been hosting TBN 'Praise' from Denver, Dallas and Costa Mesa and preached on Praise from the Holy Land Experience in Orlando. I've witnessed to many tens of millions with the hosting and preaching and always calling people to be saved.
TBN provides for us to do a half hour of outdoor on the street training in how to share Jesus. This program airs weekly and is called "The Message of the Cross". We also have hundreds of thousands of people a year coming to our website and it is a great place of witness and training. We are flooded with response from changed lives and miracles.
We have been ministering is several very large churches with the glory of God filling the churches and crowds being saved. Over Easter weekend we stepped into a new dimension. As I preached I shared my salvation testimony, then Denise came up and shared her salvation testimony and then Sophia, now nine years old shared her salvation testimony! Sophia led the Jesus cheer at the end of the meeting and Denise, Sophia and I stood at the front of the church to welcome those coming to be saved! It was the Blessitt family ministering. The people were very moved. I was shocked to see as I autographed
books and movies after the meeting that the people had already got Denise and Sophia's autograph! That was wonderful.
We are serving Jesus as a family. Denise and Sophia are already ordained ministers. God is raising them up in fresh and new ways.
When at home we go out and do crosswalks in Colorado. Denise drives up the road and waits for me and often she and Sophia walk with me. The response is wonderful. People are welcoming and so great to us. Colorado is so open with people stopping to talk and pray. We live here in the glory of the Lord. In our local area people stop me to talk and pray so often it is even difficult to work up a sweat. We are staying fresh and seeking to do one mission well at a time. Jesus is keeping us in health and blessing.
The month of May will be very busy with me hosting and preaching on TBN 'Praise' three times which then flows into June when we go overseas for two months of carrying the cross. We will share this summer's plan at the end of this month.
