2016 Small Business Week Awards
 
 
National Small Business Week has been recognizing the special impact made by outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners since 1963. During this week, the U.S. Small Business Administration honors small business owners and entrepreneurs for their outstanding achievements through various awards.

SBA is currently seeking nominations from the public for exceptional entrepreneurs. You can use this online portal to submit your nomination for the following awards:

  • Minority Small Business Champion of the Year

Google Launches Small-Business Initiative

is announcing the launch of an aggressive new program to help small businesses get found online. Called "Let's Put Our Cities on the Map," Google has generated customized websites for virtually every town and city in the U.S. to enable local businesses to learn to improve the information that shows up on
Google search, Google maps and Google+.

At a localized Let's Put Our Cities on the Map website small businesses can:
* Learn how to put more information about their business into Google
* Get their company verified for Google searches
* Add information such as location, hours of operation
* Add photos to enhance the listing
 * Get a diagnostic tool to see how they can improve their listing and visibility 
 * Get a one-year free website and domain name from Google partner StartLogic
 * Learn about local training workshops and other resources

Webinars for Small Businesses

SBA, the Department of Health Human and Services, and Small Business Majority have teamed up for a free webinar series where small employers can learn the basics of the Affordable Care Act and what it means for their organization and employees. Topics covered include the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit, the new Health Insurance Marketplace, and Employer Shared Responsibility and new employer reporting requirements. Webinar content will generally be the same each week. Below are the registration links for upcoming Fall 2015 webinars in English and Spanish.
