Dear ,

The Northeastern CA SBDC will be heading to our annual planning retreat next week to craft our strategies to support regional entrepreneurs in 2013.  The challenges are great, but we have the support to respond to the overwhelming demand for our services.  Our main focus will be to address our funding challenges to continue providing one-on-one prepaid consulting to entrepreneurs in Northeastern California. Our current funding allows our five service centers to support their available staff time to respond to your requests for services.

We look forward to a busy fall, and strong economic growth in 2013.

Additionally, the Northeastern California SBDC service centers have continued to be busy responding to your requests for assistance from businesses struggling as a result of the fires in Northeastern California. If your small business has been negatively impacted by the fires (directly - due to damage, or indirectly, by lost customers), please contact your local SBDC service center. The Small Business Administration has released a list of counties in California that were affected by the fires that have the potential to qualify for Small Business Disaster Assistance.

Please reach out to your service center to see how we might help.

Local businesses eligible for low-interest loans because of Chips Fire

Thanks in part to input from Plumas County business owners who were hurt by the recent Ch
Fire, county businesses are eligible for low-interest loans from the federal government.

"We had a lot of responses from business owners in Plumas County," said U. S. Small Busine
Administration information (SBA) officer Charmagne Husmann. "It's because of their input tha
businesses in Plumas are eligible.
"
The strong Plumas County response was a direct result of an awareness campaign by the Al
for Workforce Development. AFWD representative Jan Prichard traveled around the county, w
the fire was still burning, to meet with business owners. She said she emphasized the importa
of making sure the governor's office heard from local business owners.

The Small Business Administration reported last week that it is making low-interest working c
federal loans available to small businesses economically impacted by the fire that occurred Ju
through August 31. READ MORE
