Via West Releases 2013 Summer Brochure

Registration Now Open

Via West has just released the registration brochure for their 2013 summer season. Via West, a program of Via Services, Inc., offers year-round day and residential programs for adults and children with disabilities, ages 5 and older. The campus is located in the Cupertino foothills.

Via West continues to accommodate the growing needs of parents by offering 3 day, 5 day, and 7 day overnight programs with the option to bridge 2 sessions together for a 10 day stay. There is also the opportunity for day programs for those participants not ready for an overnight stay.

Enhanced programming focuses on building social skills and learning independent living skills while participating in activities that feature cooking, physical fitness, nutrition, iPads and technology, and much more.  Field trips to build community integration are included at no extra cost in all of the 5 and 7 day sessions.

Each session is built around a specific theme geared to engage participants in both learning and fun. Some of themes that will be offered this summer include "New Orleans Square," "It's 80's Week," "Career Week," and "Disney for all Ages."

There are spaces available for both private pay and regional center funding, and there is a scholarship fund available for those in need. Space is available on a first come, first serve basis, so register now to join the fun and experience Via West!

First Step Now Offers On-Site Screenings

Via Expands to Local Preschools

Via Services' First Step Early Intervention program has begun to reach out into the local community to provide on-site speech and language screenings at preschools. These new screenings expand the First Step program, which currently provides therapy, screening and monitoring services for children who are diagnosed with developmental delays and those who are at risk for developing delays from birth through 8 years of age.

 Speech Therapy at Via Services

This program is designed to help parents who have concerns regarding their child's speech and language development. A Speech and Language Pathologist from Via Services will work with the child to determine if he or she is meeting age-appropriate milestones in multiple speech and language domains. These include articulation, receptive language/understanding, expressive language/grammar, vocabulary, stuttering, social language/pragmatics and voice.

Following the screenings, parents are provided with a summary of their child's speech and language skills with recommendations and suggestions, if necessary.

For more information or to schedule an on-site speech screening at your preschool, please contact Dena Bensing at 408-243-7861, ext. 233.

18th Annual Via Ball is Almost Here!

The  Via Ball, which will be held on February 8th at Villa Ragusa, is only a few short weeks away! All proceeds from the Via Ball benefit Via Services' two main programs - Via West Campus and First Step Early Intervention.

Guests will be transported to a Mardi Gras masquerade, complete with delicious food, fabulous décor, and great music. The evening will also include a silent auction, live auction, dinner, and dancing.
