Respite Season Ends on a High Note
Nearly nine out of 10 parents gave perfect marks to Via West's April 20th respite weekend, ending a highly successful season of programs and activities aimed at helping families of children and adults with disabilities. Eighty-eight percent of parents rated their participant's experience a perfect 5 out of 5. One mom noted that "it was a perfect weekend" and another said of her daughter's time, "It is great that she can not only have fun but also learn some skills."
Participants Enjoying Respite
Many enjoyed the changes that were introduced this year, including giving participants a choice in which activity to partake. Other changes included e-mailing our menu ahead of time to help parents plan for special diets, and incorporating iPads and Via's Living Healthy theme into each respite.
The Via West staff is now at work preparing for our summer programs. We are excited to offer new programming, including integrating physical fitness, nutrition, cooking, social skills, and iPad instruction into each session. We now offer day and weekend programs as well as field trips off site during the longer sessions.
"We'll make the most of our beautiful hiking trails, swimming pools, camp-out areas, sports court and main lawn to engage participants in activities that range from iPads to crafts and culinary arts to adventures on the fitness trail," says Sandy Keefe, Associate Director and Health Care Manager. "As the weather warms up and the grounds of Via West are greener by the day, I'm excited about the coming of summer." Do not miss out on all of the fun! Register now!
