  T
A few weeks ago, we were contacted by Nancy Nguyen about surprising her dad on his 80th birthday with a performance by the Nashville Singers. Her dad, Dan Wolfe sang baritone with the Soundtracks quartet, a group that won the Illinois District Quartet Championship of the SPEBSQSA in 1971. Turns out Dan was also a big fan of Nashville Singers founding member Harlan Wilson, long-time baritone singer of the Suntones, the 1961 International Quartet Champion.

Turns out, the Nashville Singers were already together on August 16 for our annual photo session. After we finished with our session at the Shelby Street Bridge, we headed south to Franklin to surprise Dan on his special day.

The warm reception we received and the emotions generated by our performance made the event very memorable for all involved, especially the guest of honor, Dan Wolfe.

The Soundtracks are pictured below.

Ray Henders (T), Joe Coburn (L), Don Bagley (Bs), Dan Wolfe (Br) - Arlington Heights and Detroit No.1 Michigan Chapter

Shorty thereafter, we received the following note and picture shown at the top of this story.

Todd,

I can't even BEGIN to thank  you and your amazing group for surprising my father on his 80th birthday!  He hasn't stopped talking about it all day.  He said it took him right back to his glory days of singing.  For me, I was reminded of just how much I enjoy the harmonizing sound of a group of talented singers. I am forever grateful to you for making this happen, especially with such short notice.  We plan to follow you and your group in the months and years to come.

It was such an honor to meet you, your father (whom my father remembers with such fondness) and your son!  I hope this will inspire my dad to keep on singing!  My kids loved it too!

Most sincerely,

Nancy Nguyen

   Meet Our Most Recent Guests

Arne Themman and his wife Tammy paid us a visit this past week. He's a barbershop singer from South Florida, and a friend of Todd and Harlan Wilson. A Senior Analyst with Cathy Pareto & Associates, he also serves on the finance committee of the Nashville-based Harmony Foundation Board of Directors. Great to see you both!

Leaders MUST LEAD and have the courage to explore new ways to position their group to THRIVE,  not just SURVIVE.
