Dexter Olivia Lowe Selected as the Recipient of the
2014 Educator of the Future College Scholarship

The Nashville Singers Board of Directors recently reviewed the many applications received for our "Educator of the Future" college scholarship.

One stood out from all the rest.

In the end, White House High School graduate Dexter Olivia Lowe was selected to receive $1,000 in financial support in her quest to receive a music education degree from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Dexter represented White House High School as a member of the All-State Choir for three years, attended the Murray State Honors Choir and spent this past summer studying music theory at the Cumberland Valley School of Music.

Earlier, she attended H.B Williams Elementary and sang in the Sound Effects Choir, Directed by Bethany Stepleton. That choir received a $500 music education grant from the Nashville Singers in 2013.

Upon receiving a phone call on June 22 informing her of this news, she replied,

"When I found out I was the recipient of the Educator of the Future college scholarship, I knew that all my hard work had paid off. I felt the stress come off my shoulders knowing that the money I was lacking for school is now covered! I cannot thank my dad and my former choir director, Katie Baker, for all the times they have pushed me to work hard and helped me achieve my goals!"

The Nashville Singers are grateful that passionate people like Dexter are making plans to impact the lives of others through music. Congratulations Dexter Olivia Lowe.

Board Planning for a Bright and Exciting Future!

(L to R) Larry Bain, Tim Mullican, Michael Thornton, Dr. Lenny Farmer,
Michael Schwalbe, Todd Wilson, and Taylor Wilson)

The Nashville Singers board of directors met on Saturday from 8:00pm to 4:30pm for a strategic planning session to review the existing plan for 2015-2020, evaluate our progress on the achievement of current objectives, and to make edits, additions and course corrections where needed. The preliminary 2015 budget and calendar of major events was also approved.

Nashville Singers remains very grateful to the many volunteers, donors and grant funders who make the implementation of our plan a reality. We could not do this WITHOUT YOU!
