This letter was posted to the email list of barbershop harmony singers around the world known as "The Harmonet" on March 30, 2014:

At my request, I received from Barbershop Leader, colleague and friend, Todd Wilson, the Annual Report of Nashville Singers.org. Turning over the stunning cover page, I was attracted to the mission statement which appeared at the top of the next page: "The mission of Nashville Singers is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education". On the opposite side of the page it states: "The vision of Nashville Singers is to be a dynamic choral leader, enriching lives through the performance of significant music; collaborating with highly engaged and skilled donors to make a substandard impact on music education in our schools and the community". What follows is 13 pages of the best report, produced by any choral group that I have read in my 60+ years of singing and my 51 years of Barbershop Harmony. I do not remember ever seeing any choral group annual report which was so complete, artistically presented, balanced, informative and educational, as I found this report to be.

Congratulations Nashville Singers on your report and on the achievements highlighted in your report. You and your leaders are a model for not only choruses of the Barbershop Harmony Society, but for every singing organization on the planet. You have captured the very essence of choral excellence, audience development, community outreach, diversity, governance, philanthropy, marketing and communication, membership, fund development, music education, volunteerism and creating opportunities for improvement. After reading your report I am left with an overwhelming sense of inspiration, envy and awe.

As the newly elected member to the Board of Directors of the Coalition for Music Education in Canada, I can only marvel at your achievements in general music education, youth music education and outreach. You are demonstrating through your leadership, performances and programs to hundreds, if not thousands, the value that music and singing, particularly harmony singing, play in human development...... And you are doing this in Nashville, Tennessee, the music capital of the world, with a relatively small chorus.....after 5 years of operation.

I invite you and all the children and youth whom you have influenced through your outreach programs, to join in with Col. Chris Hadfield, former Commander of the International Space Station, Ed Robertson, lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies and hundreds of thousands of singers and instrumentalists around the planet, on Music Monday, May 5, 2014. The Coalition for Music Education in Canada sponsors Music Monday as a global event. Sheet music and learning tracks (including barbershop arrangements) are available at www.musicMonday.cahttp://www.musicmonday.ca/ For more information on the Coalition please visit www.musicmakesus.cahttp://www.musicmakesus.ca/

As Chair and CEO of the Sing Canada Harmony Scholarship Fund I applaud the efforts of your Artistic Staff, Administrative Staff, Board of Directors, Presidents Council, Music Evaluation Committee, Events Committee, Advisory Board, all members of Nashville Singers and your music leadership team. I wish you continued success in fulfilling your mission to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education.

Best regards to you, all with whom you sing, and all whose hearts you touch through the power of song

Cheers eh ! ! !

On Sunday, March 23rd, The Nashville Singers were privileged to participate in the ordination service of one of our founding members and tenor section leader, Bruce Cokeroft. This special service took place at Bruce's church, Hope Fellowship, in Smyrna, TN, and was led by Pastor Kent Shingleton. Surrounded by family and friends, this dedicatory service was opened with Nashville Singers singing a Jim Clancy arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer" and a Gaither Vocal Band arrangement of "I Then Shall Live." Bruce's friend and supervisor at LifeWay Worship, Craig Adams, also spoke and offered many kind and insightful aspects of Bruce's life and ministry.

- Chuck Berry's rock 'n' roll classic "Johnny B. Goode" single was released. It entered the US charts six weeks later and peaked at No.8 on the chart. The song's original lyrics referred to Johnny as a "colored boy", but Berry later acknowledged that he changed it to "country boy" to ensure radio play.
