University of Texas Ransom Notes

to Share Their Voices with the Nashville Singers

The Ransom Notes is the premier co-ed a cappella group at the University of Texas. They perform contemporary songs and classic oldies, arranged by their own members. With a repertoire covering everything from Marvin Gaye to Sara Bareilles, Adele to The Beach Boys, The Ransom Notes is a uniquely diverse musical group.

This popular a cappella ensemble will be visiting Music City from March 9-14 and did not want to head back to Texas without paying a visit to the Nashville Singers. On March 13, the Ransom Notes will visit the Nashville Singers rehearsal for a fun evening of singing, coaching, and musical collaboration.

The evening will culminate with a free mini concert in the sanctuary at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church starting at 8:30pm. You should join us at 3014 Elm Hill Pike in Nashville. The zip code is 37214.

March 3, 1966 - Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay formed Buffalo Springfield in Los Angeles. The group combined rock, folk, and country music into a sound all its own. Its million-selling song 'For What It's Worth' became a political anthem for the turbulent late 1960s.

Nashville in Harmony will be joined by four Nashville vocal groups specifically invited because of their diversity, their musical excellence, and their contribution to building community in Nashville.

Nashville In Harmony, the Nashville Singers, Metro Nashville Chorus, Hunters Lane High School Chorale, and the MLK Reunion Choir will take the Ryman stage separately to share their beautiful vocal gifts with music of their choosing. Then all five groups will blend their voices together as one to form a finale chorus of over 250 voices. This massive chorus will be under the direction of special guest conductor and choral composer, Greg Gilpin. In a city known for it's music, and a venue known for historic performances, this will truly be a magical night worthy of Music City USA!

Music Makes a Difference Grant Funding Increased by 50%
Applications Now Being Accepted

Nashville Singers organization believes in giving back to our community. To help support our mission, from 2011 through 2013 we've given away $5,000 in the form of grants and scholarships supporting our mission to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education.

For the previous three years, the grant amount was $500 per recipient. In 2014, this has been increased to $750 per recipient. The Music Makes a Difference grant program is designed to provide financial assistance to school music programs and nonprofits with a music education mission..

Nashville Singers believes in giving back to our community. To help support our mission, from 2011 through 2013 we gave away $5,000 in the form of grants and scholarships that support our mission to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. Th is program provides a deserving student with a scholarship to help them realize their dream of earning a college degree in music education.
