Chilly Performance Yields Warm Applause

Sub-freezing temps didn't stop Mayor Karl Dean, the Nashville Sounds, Ozzie the mascot, major league slugger Albert Pujols, the Nashville Singers, and hundreds of baseball fans from gathering to break ground on a new minor league ballpark on a historic site north of downtown last Monday afternoon.

Awards & Recognition Dinner Draws Capacity Crowd

Thirty people gathered at Legends Steakhouse in Smyrna last Thursday to celebrate our best year yet and to honor and recognize members of the Nashville Singers and other volunteers that made this success possible.

Aside from members of the chorus, spouses and family members, we were pleased to include four members of the Nashville Singers Advisory Board, including board chair Sarah Beatty, and three of our newest volunteers, David Winters, Kelly Hoskins, and Margaret Campbelle-Holman.

Meet One of Our Newest Advisory Board Members

Attorney David Winters has a broad and eclectic history. As a retired naval officer, he became an international business consultant in Europe and Asia. Then he entered law practice, specializing in patents, trademarks, and copyrights, thereby maintaining association with arts. A popular lecturer and prize-winning author of books and articles, David is a graduate of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, the University of Southern Mississippi, Oxford Brookes University of Oxford England, and Southern Illinois University School of Law.

David has a life-long enthusiasm for music and his Naval Academy singing group performed in New York Town Hall, and on the Today Show. Now retired from full time law practice, he remains legal counsel for the Grammy nominated Gateway Chamber Orchestra. David Winters was author of the Nashville Bar Journal Article of the Year in 2008, is listed in Who's Who in America, and is founder of the Charles M. Hudson Grants for Excellence in Patent Law at the Southern Illinois and Indiana Tech University Schools of Law. He is a member of the Southern Illinois University School of Law Intellectual Property Advisory Council, and the Nashville Bar Journal Editorial Committee, a previous member of the Tennessee Bar Association Executive Council, and an elected member of the elite British Special Forces Club. (That last one is just to maintain an air of mystery.)

Nashville in Harmony will be joined by four Nashville vocal groups specifically invited because of their diversity, their musical excellence, and their contribution to building community in Nashville.

Nashville In Harmony, the Nashville Singers, Metro Nashville Chorus, Hunters Lane High School Chorale, and the MLK Reunion Choir will take the Ryman stage separately to share their beautiful vocal gifts with music of their choosing. Then all five groups will blend their voices together as one to form a finale chorus of over 250 voices. This massive chorus will be under the direction of special guest conductor and choral composer, Greg Gilpin. In a city known for it's music, and a venue known for historic performances, this will truly be a magical night worthy of Music City USA!

Tickets on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ryman.com.
