Nashville Singers Receives $5,000 Grant
Last Thursday , on the the 5th anniversary of the first "official" meeting of the Nashville Singers, we received some great news. The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee announced that our organization had been selected to receive a $5,000.00 grant to support two of our music education programs:
1) Acappella Academy vocal and performance clinic
2) Middle & High School Master Classes on "the art of a cappella singing"
2013 President/Board Chair Doug Morrison, upon hearing the news, responded, "This funding will allow us to grow these important programs and helps to support our mission to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education."

Oak Ridge Concert - Successful & SOLD OUT!
The Nashville Singers and the 100+ voices of the Sound Company Children's Choir, performing "Teach the Children to Sing"
This past Saturday, the Nashville Singers traveled to Oak Ridge to spend a day with over 100 kids from The Sound Company, Oak Ridge's Children's Performing Choir. This youth ensemble is directed by Katy Wolfe-Zahn, Terry Silver-Alford, Mariana Garciagodoy, and Kathy Gillenwaters. The company is comprised of over 100 children ranging from first through twelfth grades, from schools and communities in East Tennessee.
Taylor Wilson coaching and providing some encouraging words during the master class to a young quartet from the Sound Company
The day was filled with great memories, making many new friends, lots of singing, and a master class presented by the Nashville Singers on the "art of acappella singing."
The master class included performances by three talented young quartets from the Sound Company who received some coaching from various members of the Nashville Singers.
Michael Schwalbe and Jennifer Wilson greeting concert attendees at the Nashville Singers merchandise booth
The day concluded with a SOLD OUT concert for over 500 attendees at the historic Grove Theater at High Places Church in Oak Ridge.
The two choirs combined to sing a few songs, including "You Are the New Day", as performed by the King's Singers, and "Teach the Children to Sing" composed and arranged by Joe Liles.

These two choirs last shared the stage in April of 2012 before an audience of 4,000 at the Titanic Museum and Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Descendants of the passengers and crew were on hand to commemorate the event.
