This Day in Music
August 26, 1965 - Sonny & Cher were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with "I Got You Babe," the duo's only UK No.1. Sonny Bono was inspired to write the song to capitalize on the popularity of the term "babe," as heard in Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe."

Quartet Performance in Rutherford County
Lenny Farmer, Michael Schwalbe, Michael Thornton, and Bob Allen of the Nashville Singers, sang "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go," at the quarterly Executive Board meeting of the Concord Baptist Association in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Monday night, August 19. The meeting was attended by about 25 individuals composed of mostly pastors of area Baptist Churches and some laity, who met to hear a quarterly report of the Southern Baptist Church activities for the quarter. The quartet volunteered their time for this engagement and their performance was met with enthusiastic applause and appreciation from the audience.
