The Suntones Bring Some Harmony To Music City
"Hall of Fame" Quartet Gathers for Impromptu Reunion in Nashville
 | |
The Suntones and Family - July 22, 2013 (photo by Travis Franklin)
|
Through a series of happy coincidences all four members of the Barbershop Harmony Society's 1961 International Quartet Champion Quartet found themselves in Music City on the very same day. Three generations of Suntones family members gathered at the home of Harlan and Sandy Wilson for an impromptu reunion. The foursome retired from public performances at their farewell concert in Cleveland, Tennessee on May 19, 2012. Those assembled enjoyed some tasty treats, and watched footage from various episodes of The Jackie Gleason Show featuring the Suntones and the Hurricane Honeys quartets. No gathering like this would be complete without some singing. The quartet revisited many of the songs that made them famous in the world of barbershop harmony singing, and did not disappoint.

SPECIAL Extra Rehearsal Scheduled for July 25
With summer vacations in full swing, so many members traveling this past month, and a recording session coming up in less than two weeks for our new Christmas CD, the singers in attendance at last week's rehearsal have requested an extra rehearsal be scheduled to help get the chorus in tip top shape for July 27. That said, we will meet at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church for a two-hour extra rehearsal this Thursday evening, starting at 7:30pm.
