VIPs in Abundance at TN Chamber Performance
In excess of 300 business leaders and state legislators from across Tennessee assembled at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Nashville on April 2nd, for the 101st Annual Membership Meeting of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Thanks to advisory board member Ruth Woodall, the Nashville Singers were the featured entertainment for the event. Our performance concluded with Jay Giallombardo's powerful arrangement of Over the Rainbow and rousing applause. Governor Bill Haslam was scheduled to present a keynote address directly after our set and shouted with dismay from his table, "I have to follow that?"

Former Senator Trent Lott loves to sing barbershop harmony and performed for many years as the bass singer of a quartet called the Singing Senators. The members of the famous foursome are shown below: | |

Spring Celebration Concert at Antioch High School Draws a Crowd

|
A few hundred folks gathered at Antioch High School on the evening of April 4, for a fundraiser event called A Spring Celebration. The evening featured performances by the Nashville Singers, the Antioch High School Mixed Chorus, Antioch High School Chamber Singers, and the JFK Middle School Chorus
The Executive Director of Choral Arts Link, Margaret Campbelle-Holman remarked on her Facebook page...
Franklin J. Willis and I had the special pleasure of attending a concert at Antioch High School tonight that was a testament to the quality choral threads that are crisscrossing communities and giving families pride in the tradition of our children and youth succeeding, masterfully. Opening the program was led by Todd Wilson and the Nashville Singers. All you had to do was sit back and let lush blend of vocal timbres wash over you: vocal harmonies (a cappella-Yeah!) bouncing you along or gently leading you through classics of today and yesteryear.

Testimonial from the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry
The Nashville Singers performed at the Maunday Thursday service held at the Masonic Grand Lodge in downtown Nashville on March 28th. The chorus performed "Were You There" and the "Lord's Prayer" during the service. Nashville Singers lead singer Bryan Patrick performed a solo on the song Jerusalem accompanied by guest organist Julian Calvin.
We received a great letter this week. It read as follows:
Dear Mr. Wilson and all The Nashville Singers.
On behalf of the Scottish Rite Valley of Nashville I wish to convey my sincere appreciation for your remarkable performance at our Maunday Thursday event last week. Your entire group was so professional in not only the performance but also the way each of you interacted with our members and guests. Each of you helped make our service a memorable event for everyone. This fraternity has been conducting this service for over 900 years and I bet the music in this one was the best ever. Thanks to each of you from the Scottish Rite Valley of Nashville and myself personally from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Dan Jones

Secretary

Unsung Heroes - Volunteers of Note
This has been one of the busiest stretches of time in the short history of organization, with four performances, two rehearsals, and Acappella Academy all taking place in less than two weeks. While the members of the chorus receive the applause, there are some people behind the scenes who do not always get the recognition they deserve.
Kudos to Taylor's "better half" Whitney Jones for programming our scrolling LED sign providing cues for song titles, pitches and first words, Travis Wilson for serving as photographer at our last two performances, and helping with registration at Acappella Academy, and Travis' better half Cierra Adkisson for helping with registration at Acappella Academy. We are grateful for your assistance.
