Wedding Bells Times Two!
December 27, 2012 was a very special day for three members of the Nashville Singers family.
Amanda Runnels married Hendersonville Mayor Scott Foster and became Mrs. Amanda Foster. She is also a new member of the Nashville Singers Advisory Board. Amanda is the Vice-President of Development for the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce. She specializes in retention, expansion and small business consulting through the Business Accelerator Program. Her passion is to connect business owners with the right tools to run their businesses successfully. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from New Mexico State University and is currently pursuing certification as an Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council. Aside from Nashville Singers, her volunteer involvement has included being Chair of TRAC, Inc. and a board member for the United Way of Sumner County She enjoys writing music, whenever time allows. Aside from new husband Scott, she has also welcomed two stepsons, Cody and Blaze to her family. On the same day, Mike Casper exchanged wedding vows with Karen Davis. The ceremony was performed by none other than Dr. Lenny Farmer. Karen has two children named Andrew and Olivia. Mike has five children from a previous marriage, Kristen, Michael, Shay, Blake, and Haylee. Mike Casper owns and operates Yard Dog Fencing and Decks. When he can squeeze it in, he likes to be out on the water. Mike joined Nashville Singers in June of 2009 as a lead vocalist, and was responsible for securing the very first public performance for the chorus. He is our primary performance scout and is an at large member of the 2013 governing board. Dr. Lenny Farmer joined the chorus a year ago, sings baritone, serves as our Celebration Coordinator, and is Vice Chair and Board Secretary of the 2013 governing board. Congratulations to all involved!

Brandon McCaddin - Home for the Holidays
 | Notice the jar of Jennifer's Special Salsa in his right hand. |
Former Nashville Singers lead vocalist Brandon McCaddin left us in 2011 to join the U.S. Navy. He returned to Nashville on leave over the Christmas holidays and spent a few days (and nights) at the Wilson's and enjoyed some of Jennifer's home cooking. He attended the Music City Bowl and had a chance to sing "Over the Rainbow" with Taylor, Bruce and Todd on New Year's Eve. This photo was shot as he was headed back to his base in Virginia Beach.
The U.S. Navy's Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen are Special Operations Forces who operate and maintain an inventory of small craft used to support special operations missions, particularly those of the U.S. Navy SEALs. Individually, SEALs and SWCC go through separate specialized training programs that emphasize special operations in the maritime environment. SWCC are trained extensively in craft and weapons tactics, techniques, and procedures. Focusing on clandestine infiltration and exfiltration of SEALs and other special operations forces, SWCC provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas where large ships cannot operate.

Meet Our Newest Guest
Larry Bain sings baritone and has attended our last two meetings. He heard about Nashville Singers from the newsletter.
Bain moved from Maryland to Tennessee in May 2010.
Recent experience includes singing with the Bay Country Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus, the Mountain Christian Church Choir, and "His Harvesters" gospel quartet.
Larry remarked, "It seems like I've been singing as long as I can remember. I grew up in a singing family especially traveling in the car, and sang in quartets and choirs in high school through college."

Where Do You Guys Get Such Cool Arrangements?
One of us is asked that question at practically every performance. However, there is no quick answer. In the last four years, the men of the Nashville Singers have had the pleasure of singing vocal charts by over 30 different talented arrangers. If you've subscribed to this newsletter for very long, you know we profile some of these folks in the newsletter several times a year. This issue features articles about Matt Swann and Adam Bock. To create a helpful resource for other a cappella singers, Nashville Singers has just added an arranger page on our website with the contact information or the arrangers, publishers or distributors. Enjoy! |
Kudos to Matt Swann!
Speaking of arrangers, the men of the Nashville Singers just completed the 2012 member satisfaction survey and gave leadership feedback on a variety of topics. When it comes to the 32 different songs in our regular, Christmas, or occasional use repertoire, Matt's arrangement of Birthday of a King was chosen as the favorite song of 2012 by the members of the chorus. Way to go Matt! |

Arranger Profile - Adam Bock
Adam Bock is a composer/arranger/singer based in New York City. After getting his degree in music composition from Webster University in St. Louis, Adam spent three years singing with and arranging for the Ambassadors of Harmony before moving to the big apple. A confirmed musician at an early age, he has spent time working in musical theater, pop, rock, college acapella, classical, jazz, and barbershop styles, all as both a composer/arranger and performer.
Adam remarked, I'm thrilled to work with the Nashville Singers and their illustrious director, Todd Wilson! I listen to Acoustix and the Suntones on a daily basis!"Nashville Singers is excited to sing one of Adam's charts in 2013, a lush and modern 7-part arrangement of Christmastime is Here.
