Quotes of the Week
Congratulations on a marvelous performance Saturday evening. You made me laugh and made me cry, but most importantly, you filled my heart with the joy of good music. All of you are so dear to me for your commitment to music, both through performance and by supporting the next generation of musicians. Your generosity of financial support as well as your willingness to share your time and talents speaks volumes about the type of men you are. It is groups like you that make my job worthwhile and much easier. Carol R. Crittenden, Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator - Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools
|
Congrats to Carol Crittenden for this well deserved recognition and kudos to Todd Wilson of Nashville Singers for his vision of quality choral presentations as an artistic foundation for every child who wants to sing! - Margaret Campbelle-Holman, Executive Director Choral Arts Link, Musical Director of The MET Singers

Interview with Michael Schwalbe
Q1. What was your first job?
A: I was an intern at a stock brokerage firm. I wore a suit and tie every day, and hated it.
Q2. My current job is... A: working in the print division doing sales/customer service for Word Music, the Christian label division of Warner Music Group.
Q3. My worst job ever was... A: Hard to say. I feel like I've learned something at all of my jobs. The stock brokerage was probably the least enjoyable though, because I primarily was converting their paper filing system to paperless, and pulling staples all day.
Q4. My first car was a... A: 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Q5. My current mode of transportation is a... A: 2011 Toyota Rav4 Sport
Q6. My dream car is a... A: 2010 Lotus Exige S-260
Q7. The last book I read was... A: empty Promises by Pete Wilson
Q8. Who is the most famous person you have ever met? A: Wynonna Judd
Q9. If you could meet any person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
A: I'll stray away from the cliche "Jesus" just because that's everyone's default. I'd probably say Lincoln, just because his ability to inspire leadership is something I'd love to learn from.
Q10. When I need inspiration, I...
A: read the Bible or sing
Q11. Who is the educator or teacher that has left the most lasting impression on you?
A: Hard to say, since I've had so many. Probably my grade school English teacher Ms. Bryant, for pounding grammar and syntax into me so hard that I still have all my helping verbs memorized.
Q12. But if I want to unwind, I...
A: play lots of videogames
Q13. I've never...
A: seen any of the Godfather movies
Q14. What is one thing that very few people know about you?
A: Thanks to a joint issue, I can dislocate every joint in my body at will, including ankles, knees, fingers, and hips.
Q15. My favorite experience as a performer would have to be...
A: Making the short list at Belmont's Rock Showcase with my progressive metal group Invicta.
Q16. My favorite meal is...
A: either burger + fries, or alfredo + garlic bread.
Q17. I am terrified of...
A: Not much. I'm not fond of flying but I can do it functionally.
Q18. If I could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: The Smithsonian or Yellowstone again.
Q19. The one piece of technology I can't live without?
A: The internet.
Q20. My favorite television show is...
A: some documentary on Nat Geo or Discovery. I watch almost zero TV typically. The Walking Dead is cool but I don;t follow it.
Q21. My radio is most often tuned to...
A: 102.9 the BUZZ
Q22. CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, or BBC? A: BBC/CNN
Q23. My favorite singer is... A: Mikael Akerfeldt, of Opeth
Q24. What musical instruments do you enjoy playing? A: I've been a drummer for a long time, and also recently restarted piano lessons.
Q25. What do I like most about being associated with Nashville Singers? A: The opportunity to hone my singing with lots of other great singers, and the fun opportunities to perform for many of Nashville's finest.
Q26. How old were you when you first started singing? A: Unless you count singing in my car, I didn't do any singing groups or lessons until my freshman year of college.
