Erin Como Will Be at This Week's Rehearsal!
You've seen her on billboards all over town. If you're attending our Season of Harmony concert on November 17, you'll be able to see and enjoy Fox 17's Erin Como "in person."
Erin has her copy of the Season of Harmony concert script and in preparation for our upcoming concert will be rehearsing with the Nashville Singers and a few of our quartets this Thursday evening, November 8th, at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church.
If you have speaking assignments, please work to get them memorized right away.
To make the most of our limited time with Ms.Como, let's maintain the championship focus and riser decorum we'll need to do our personal best.
Guests are welcome at any Nashville Singers rehearsal. In fact our guys tend to kick things up a notch when we have an audience. Visit our website for rehearsal information.

These Ladies Know How To Sing!
Approximately 6,000 a cappella vocalists gathered in Denver last week for the 66th annual Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition. More than 65 quartets and 40 choruses competed in the five-day event, singing their best barbershop harmonies in hopes of becoming the next choruses champion or "Queen of Harmony." The global nonprofit organization has about 24,000 members - about 1,200 registered quartets and 600 registered choruses - that compete in regional contests to qualify for the annual competition.

Meet One of our Most Recent Guests!
Nashville Singers is already a family affair with 20% of our chorus membership represented by the Wilson family. Another branch was added to the family tree when Wendy Wilson DeCrow (Harlan's daughter) attended our October 25 rehearsal. DeCrow work s for McGraw-Hill Publishing as a Senior Sales Consultant. Her territory was recently expanded to include the state of Tennessee.
Harlan introduced Wendy as the Wilson with the most musical talent in the family, and he wasn't exaggerating. She started singing with the family quartet at age four, along with brother Todd and her Mom and Dad. She has been a featured soloist on concerts and recordings with renowned vocal groups like the Vocal Majority and ACOUSTIX. Wendy was a music educator in the classroom for eight years before joining the McGraw-Hill Publishing team.
She lives in Texas with her husband Steve and daughter Savannah.

Profile - Franklin Willis and the W.H. Oliver Middle School Chorus
Nashville Singers loves the opportunity to showcase youn talent on our annual concert. Last year, we featured the John Overton High School Chamber Choir and the MET Singers. This year, one of the area schools receiving funding from our Music Makes a Difference grant program was W.H. Oliver Middle School. Their chorus is directed by Franklin Willis. Attendees at our upcoming Season of Harmony concert can look forward to hearing a few songs from this ensemble on November 17. Mr. Willis is excited about teaching choral music for the second year at Oliver Middle School. It is astounding to see the growth of this choir from last year to the present. It is difficult to believe that a little over one year ago these students were placed in a chorus without any prior musical background or desire to sing. The chorus was one of the few groups that had not been formed, thus leaving few children left to join. Mr. Willis allowed anyone to be a part of the chorus, and he rose to the challenge of creating a place of musical talents, embedded among a unique and culturally diverse group. He believes every person is a musician. While there are different levels of talent, students are highly expected to give their best effort. It is his goal to excite students about music and to provide them with meaningful musical instruction in a positive, supportive learning environment. He has high expectations for each musician and believes that anyone can be successful in music. This year the Oliver Middle School Chorus sang background vocals for Carrie Underwood in the ABC program Teachers Rock. Also they presented concerts at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and the recent Nashville Sings event sponsored by the Metro Arts Commission. Franklin J. Willis is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where he earned a Bachelor's of Music Education with an emphasis in choral music. Most recently he completed the Master of Education Degree in Nonprofit Leadership at Belmont University. Mr. Willis is a featured vocalist (Baritone) at Woodmont Christian Church. He has performed in productions with Opera Memphis, University of Memphis Opera, and the Chattanooga Choral Society. He has been a special guest vocalist at various community galas, events, and special services. Mr. Willis has presented music education workshops at the state, national, and international conferences. He is a member of the National Association of Negro Musicians, Tennessee Music Educators Association, National Association of Music Educators, and the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association.
