The Donelson-Hermitage Community Comes Together to Create New Music-Themed Mural

mural
Donelson-Hermitage residents, elected officials, and business leaders gathered on the afternoon of September 30 to dedicate a new community mural, "In Concert" by artist Randy Purcell, at Johnson Furniture, 2620 Lebanon Road.

Overa 30-day period, over 200 people, including several members of the Grand Ole Opry, transformed the Johnson Furniture Building into an art project.

Mayor Karl Dean and other dignitaries were on hand as Phil Ponder painted the final piece of the mural with his popular bird "Happy."

Nashville Singers was one of several organizations and individuals making a financial contribution to make this project possible. All donors had their names included in the mural.

The event served as the kick off to a month-long, city-wide arts celebration known as "Artober Nashville."

Franklin Wine Festival

The Nashville Singers returned to Franklin this past Friday night to present another 45-minute set of music for many of the 2500 attendees at the Franklin Wine Festival. Our program include the public debut of two of our newest songs, Bring Him Home, with a breathtaking solo by Bruce Cokeroft, and Birthday of a King, a new Christmas song presented as a teaser for our November 17 concert.

Kudos to Advisory Board member Sarah Beatty for creating a great "date night" for our guys, to Carl Diebold for capturing the performance in HD video and to Lorin May for serving as our photographer.

A great time was had by all. If you have never attended the Franklin Wine Festival, you should. This is a great event benefiting a great organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.

Beach Boys (New STEREO) Good Vibrations HD 1966
Beach Boys (New STEREO) Good Vibrations HD 1966

October 22, 1966 -  The Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' made its debut on the US singles chart. Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, the track was recorded over 6 weeks in four different Los Angeles studios, at a cost of over $16,000. The recording engineer would later say that the last take sounded exactly like the first, six months earlier. The record would reach No.1 on the US charts in December 1966. The cool thing about this video is the restoration of the original full length of the bridge that was edited out of the released version.
