Jorongo de Camaron - Shrimp Poncho

Phyllo-wrapped with garlic marmalade, strawberry and chile salsas.

Just in time for Restaurant Week ( click here for more ) coming May 15-31 to Vallarta, we've got new dishes from La Cocina de Amor to share.

As we do every year, each of the chefs in the kitchen prepare a new dish that we present during Restaurant Week.  Those that prove the most popular make it to our "Specials Menu" that we offer throughout the year. This year we're excited to be working on our new entries that we also test as weekly specials.

Did you know that Jos Alfredo also spends time creating new recipes in the kitchen?  The next time you're in Tu Casa en Vallarta, ask about the Jorongo de Camaron - Shrimp Poncho.  That's Jos Alfredo's creation!

Banderas News Unveils New "Best of" Vote

Each year, people are asked to vote for what they believe is the "Best of Banderas Bay." This year, Banderas News will be sponsoring the yearly vote after
Lifestyles Magazine decided to pass on the yearly campaign that they created eight years ago.

So, what do you think, is No Way Jos! the "Best Mexican" Restaurant in Banderas Bay?  Simply click here and select what you believe is the best of Banderas Bay. We appreciate your votes and support! Voting ends December 31, 2013 with winners announced in January.

Employee of the Month

Meet  Vicente Montes Loyola

If you count our Chocolate Ecstasy, Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Terrine, or simply one of the best flans in Puerto Vallarta among your NWJ! favorites, then meet the NWJ! Employee of the month for March 2013, our pastry chef Vicente Montes Loyola.

As an original Vallarta native, pata salada, (salty foot) "Chentito", 25, started working as a kitchen steward when he was 15 years old.  At 18, he gravitated toward the cold kitchen - salads and desserts.  "I love sweets," Chentito shares.  "I would draw with my cousins when we were little and I liked to decorate and paint.  I enjoy decorating the birthday plates for our customers that celebrate birthdays with us."

If you recognize the surname, you're right!  Chentito is a second generation chef in his family, his father being No Way Jos!'s own Executive Chef, Vicente Montes Gonzalez.  The apple didn't fall from the tree in terms of quality, creativity and the joy of cooking.  Single, and in a happy relationship with his girlfriend, Chentito wouldn't mind if his future son took an interest in the kitchen.  "Whatever he wants will be fine, but it would be cool to be 3 generations of chefs!"

When asked what he most wanted to share with our family of friends, he replied, "All I want is for people to say 'wow', when they taste one of my desserts.  I want them to totally enjoy it."

So the next time you're in Tu Casa en Vallarta, and if you haven't already, try our Chocolate Ecstasy dessert, made only at No Way Jos!.  Give a shout-out to its creator, Vicente Montes Loyola, the NWJ! employee of the month.
