Enrollments must be done in 4-H online and if paid before February 1st are only $25.00 thanks to our sponsors: Max Yield Cooperative and Clay County Extension Council.   

 

Enrollment Help Nights:

 

The last Enrollment Help Night will be January 31st from 5pm-7pm at the Clay County Extension Office. 

 

Youth Council

Applications for the 2013 Clay County 4-H Youth Council are due by February 1, 2013.  Visit this webpage for more information!   

 

Attention 6th-8th Graders!  

 The Intermediate PLUNGE! Adventure to the Iowa 4-H Camping Center is for 6th - 8th grade youth from Region 1 in Northwest Iowa who want to build friendships, strengthen their leadership skills and have fun!   

We will board a chartered bus on April 26th after school and return home on Saturday night, the 27th.

Livestock Project Areas

 

Junior Feeder Weigh Ins

Any 4-H or FFA beef project member wishing to participate in the junior feeder program must have animals weighed, and tagged at the Clay County weigh-in at the Spencer Livestock Sale Barn. Youth may weigh-in two pens of three or four same sex calves per pen at weigh-in on March 16th. The weigh-in will be from 9:00 am-11:00 am at the Spencer Livestock Sale Barn. Junior Feeder project members will be responsible for the $1.50 cost per tag. The junior feeder weigh-in will allow beef project members to participate in the junior feeder program, but does not constitute a fair entry.  For more information regarding the junior feeder project or weigh-in contact CC-E FFA Advisor, Betsy Schoelerman at 834-2227 or [email protected] or any of the Jr. Feeder committee members.(Snow Date: Saturday, March 23rd - Listen to KICD)

 

Clay County Seniors  

 

Are you planning to continue educational opportunities following high school graduation? We would like to encourage you  to apply for scholarships sponsored by the Clay County 4-H Youth Council and Clay County Bankers Association. 

 

The Clay County 4-H Youth Council and the Clay County Bankers Association are pleased to be able to offer scholarships to Clay County 4-H members. 

 

You do not have to be a member of the Youth Council to apply for this Scholarship.

 

An interview, 4-H recordkeeping system, and the written application will be used in the selection process.  The interviews will be held in late February at the Clay County Extension Office.

County & State Recognition  


4-H Awards Program:

The 4-H Awards Program will be held March 11th to recognize the achievements of Clay County 4-Hers.  More information will be posted as it becomes available.

State Recognition and Trips:
Visit the Iowa 4-H Website to see all of the exciting State Recognition Opportunities!

 

If you would like to apply, a packet of information is available online or at the extension office.  The state selection process for the above opportunities will involve:

  • completing an application form including 5 short answer questions;
  • gathering and putting together 2 pages of written support material (see the application for format);
  • an interview at the state level.

The application deadline is February 1.  The interviews will be tentatively scheduled for March 25.

Swim/Skate Event!
Join other 4-H youth from the area for a fun day of swimming, skating, food, friends and fun activities!  All Seasons Center, February 9, skating from noon until 2:00pm, swimming from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. 

Registration is open to all 4-H members and friends. 

$10 cost includes swimming, activities, snacks and skating
