Christian MaasKammann Momentum

As chief technology officer, I take pride in the creativity and responsiveness of the Kammann engineering staff. The K61 roll to roll printing system, the K24A robotic infeed handling system and the Tube Option for the K15 CNC are three examples of their skill.

With the new K61, we greatly expanded the flexibility and productivity of our roll to roll bellwether and with the K24A, we adapted existing robot technology to the needs of container decorators. The Tube Option extended the K15 CNC's already proven capabilities. With several new products on the horizon, our engineering momentum is gathering steam. Keep checking this newsletter for more introductions of creative products over the coming months.

All New K61

Introducing the latest Kammann roll to roll system with more modularity, more productivity and more print area.

K61

  • The modular design allows entire system to be easily integrated into existing production environments.
  • Continuous (vs. stop-start) material transport with constant web tension.
  • Small footprint hot-air dryer for easy access
  • Print width and length up to 27" increases productivity
  • Roll reversal available to minimize costs associated with roll removal and off-line rewind
  •

    Possible Applications

    Medical devices

    Circuitry (RFID, antennas)

    Printed electronicsBio-sensors
    Printed batteriesTactile ink application

Kammann K24 A

Robotic Infeed Handling System

The robotic K24 A infeed handling system enables decorators to reduce labor and tooling costs while minimizing damage to scratch sensitive surfaces. The four-axis delta robot can unpack trays upstream in front of the printer as well as downstream to pack the decorated product back into empty trays.

Delta robot handling systems are ubiquitous in the food packaging industry, mainly to put sensitive products like vegetables, fruits or chocolates into boxes. Typically, production lines like this are running 24/7 with a given product.

The problem with the existing methods is the long set-up of the cameras used to identify the lateral and angular position of the product that the robot has to grab. The decorating industry is constantly challenged by changing articles and short print runs.

Kammann engineers came up with the concept of illuminating the article with IR light sources eliminating the lighting optimization issues that complicate system set-up.

 K15 CNC Tube Option

With the Tube Decorating Option, the K15 CNC screen printing machine is capable of printing on a standard range of tubes with a diameter of 16mm to 50mm and a body length from 50mm to 200mm. Speeds of over 100 cartridges per minute have been achieved.

Tube Option

Due to its CNC functionality, the machine can be installed as a stand-alone system or as a module within an integrated system.

It can be configured with various options such as pre-treatment systems including flame, corona and anti-static along with pre-lacquering and post-lacquering systems.

The feeding magazine can handle approximately 150 caulking tubes and is equipped with a central hand-wheel adjustment system for article lengths.
