Help Plan the Long-term Future
of Shooks Run Corridor
You are Invited to the 2nd Session in a Series of Public Workshops to Identify Needed Improvements and Opportunities for this Important Community Asset.
DATE: Thurs., October 29, 2015
TIME: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Palmer High School Gymnasium
325 N. Wahsatch Avenue, Colorado Springs, 80903
During this citizen-involved, collaborative workshop,
corridor theme options will be explored based on the challenges and opportunities identified by you, community participants, at the June workshop. As citizens with an interest in the corridor, your first-hand knowledge and ideas are important to us. Please plan to attend and provide your input.
Building upon the historic vision for the Shooks Run corridor, this study will lead to a prioritized plan for future construction of much needed multi-modal transportation and drainage improvements to the aging infrastructure. In addition, enhancement opportunities that maximize community benefits for all who use the corridor will be evaluated.
(In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), the City of Colorado Springs will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities. Anyone requiring an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this workshop should make the request as soon as possible by calling 719/488-5908, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.)

Keypad Polling Results
from June 18 Public Meeting Workshop
While the results are not statistically representative, they provide a snapshot of the opinions and viewpoints of the approximate 155 citizens who participated in the first Envision Shooks Run public workshop held June 18.
Overall, participants in the keypad polling session in particular favored enhancing connections (of various types) from Shooks Run to other destinations and assets in the area and between different parts of the corridor. They would like Shooks Run to better connect them to the water, and they largely support the ideas and the vision of the Legacy Loop, the City's Parks Plan, and Imagine Downtown. Participants also expressed concern about the safety and overall appearance or aesthetics of Shooks Run currently, and they support efforts to enhance parks and open spaces, public spaces, natural areas, and streetscapes and other places along the corridor.
Overall, the group supported a "connected" Shooks Run corridor, a different look and feel in different segments, and a secluded and natural, open channel. CLICK HERE to view the results from each question.

The Envision Shooks Run study focuses on one of the more important stream corridors in the central part of the City of Colorado Springs. The project area is generally located to the east of Downtown Colorado Springs, between the Patty Jewett Golf Course area to the north, and the Fountain Creek corridor, to the south. It encompasses the southeastern quadrant of the Legacy Loop trail.
