Temporary Pikes Peak Greenway Trail Detour

Begins August 10

Crews on the Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) Interstate-25/Cimarron Interchange Design-Build Project will temporarily detour a portion of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail from the west side of Fountain Creek to the east side. This detour is necessary so crews can install a new drainage system.

This temporary detour is scheduled to go into effect Monday, Aug. 10, 2015. Both sides of the trail will be OPEN for the American Discovery Trail Marathon on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. If necessary, the west side of the trail might close again for a few days after Labor Day to complete this drainage work. There could also be intermittent closures of this trail throughout the project, slated to be complete in Fall 2017.

Greenway Trail Detour:

Southbound Detour

The detour for southbound users on the west side of Fountain Creek begins at the pedestrian bridge between Colorado Ave. and America the Beautiful Park. Users will cross the bridge from the gravel trail and continue south for about one mile on the paved trail east of the creek. Trail users can cross back to the west side of the creek at the next pedestrian bridge, located across the highway from Wal-Mart.

Northbound Detour

The detour for northbound users on the west side of Fountain Creek begins at the pedestrian bridge across from Wal-Mart. Users will cross the bridge to the paved trail east of the creek and continue north for about one mile on the paved trail east of the creek. They can return to the trail west of the creek at the next pedestrian bridge between America the Beautiful Park and Colorado Avenue.
